ОтветитьI love this, I actually love reading and I am looking to work into publishing. What are you tips and advice on what path I should take. get a enert level job or continue with a masters degree
ОтветитьVery insightful video. Well made. Thanks for sharing.
Ответитьyour first 3 mins of hyping up books and why publishing is amazing hit me straight in the heart!!!! I know nothing of the publishing world, but it's been on my mind recently and I feel inspired for the first time in a long time. thank you!!
ОтветитьI don't agree with the idea that books are the start of a story (ie - there to cross fertilise into other media like t.v or film where they somehow become 'complete'). Prose fiction is my favourite way of receiving a narrative.
ОтветитьI adore your energy
Ответитьyou're so damn wise! I love your channel
ОтветитьReally informative, Thanks!
ОтветитьJust found your channel and so so glad I did. I am switching up career paths and enrolled in a graphic design program with an inner desire to take that into the publishing world. It is a bit intimidating being a bit new to it all, but you are so passionate and so knowledgeable- I definitely learned a lot just by watching this one! Thank you! :D
ОтветитьId love to work in publishing, I love reading but im honestly terrible at English wording and grammer.
ОтветитьI watched this video a few weeks ago, and last night I pulled all the books of my, my sisters and my mums shelves and organised them. It was so interesting, I started at 2 and before I knew it it was 4am! I really enjoyed it though, way more than I expected, and it's made me way more excited about publishing so thank you ❤️
ОтветитьHey! Do we neccesarily have to have an english or journalism degree to break into publishing?
ОтветитьI know I'm late for commenting on here but anyway: thanks for this series! Alas, you have to complete a three-year apprentenceship to become a book seller where I live (not a bad thing in general, just shortens your list of advice for me 😉)
ОтветитьThank you so much for sharing this!! These are hugely practical tips that are very specific. I feel likely usually these kinds of videos are very general and contain the same tips that you could say for any industry. Thank you for your insight!
Ответитьooh now im looking through all the publishers of my books ! sadly i only have the 15 i could take to uni with me but it’s fascinating nonetheless! and one of them was published by vintage books which was a nice wee surprise
ОтветитьHahaha omg amazing idea about organising books by publisher.
ОтветитьLove this video and how you express what's amazing about book publishing and why books are created with love!
ОтветитьLove what you said about reading being the fastest way you can encourage empathy in society. ❤️🌼
This video has been so extremely helpful. Thank you. :)
What is the USA version of The Bookseller?
ОтветитьFuck I should work in publishing
ОтветитьRevisiting this series of videos because I'm just about to graduate with an English Lit degree (during a pandemic) so things are looking bleak, and I have no idea what I even enjoy doing after four years of a degree that I had mixed feelings about. Any way, these videos are super helpful <3
Ответитьyour passion is infectious <3 I feel the same way. thank you for sharing
ОтветитьJesus loves you all and is coming soon! ❤️ if you haven’t repented/turned from sin and accepted Jesus as Savior believing He died and rose again for you, today is perfect and scripture says that today is the day of salvation!!
ОтветитьThanks for the advice :) I'm looking into internships in the publishing industry. I appreciate your insight!!
ОтветитьThis was super helpful! Thank you for making this video
ОтветитьI'm a bookseller and I love it! Editing has always been my dream job and I can definitely see how being a bookseller is helping me learn more about publishing. I'm very lucky to have the opportunity and to live in an area where people are able to splurge on books and keep our business in the running (although I have developed a bias against Amazon; they steal a whole lot of business, not to mention everything else unethical about that company). Great video!
Ответитьthis video just made me decide this is definitely what im passionate about. ive been so scared because it never seemed like an option during high school and now i have to make a decision and this made me feel so much more comfy making it! tysm
ОтветитьI have a BA in Linguistics but I've always enjoyed reading. It's my favorite pastime. After deciding I no longer wanted a career in speech pathology, then having a baby(currently 3 months old :)), I realized I longer wanted to do anything that didn't make me happy. I'm currently looking at careers in publishings, or something related. I don't have the experience but I don't mind taking the steps required to get there. Any information and tips would be greatly appreciated!
Ответитьbrb going to organise my bookshelf by publisher
ОтветитьOmg I've just discovered you! I ❤ your verbal vomit 😁 I am a mature student trying to sort my life out with a literature degree 👍 never even considered publishing...until now. Thank you for this video! I'm off to go binge watch your vids!
ОтветитьI ADORE YOUR PERSONALITY! <3
ОтветитьCan solicitors work in publishing? Is there room for lawyers/solicitors in a publishing house?
ОтветитьYou just saves me from choosing editor as a career....now I think that a publishing firm is the one for me...thank you
ОтветитьThis was really good overview for a rookie. I'm a business (marketing) grad and so much suited to be lit grad, that i found publishing to be my best match.
You can make a video about the evolving face of publishing industry, how has it changed, what roles are being replaced or added...
thank you for the video
ОтветитьI'd love to work in publishing industry even tho my degree is in pharmacy
ОтветитьSo cute
ОтветитьAhh yes I always look for recurring books in charity shops I find it so interesting !
Ответитьso interesting, helpful and practical!
ОтветитьThank you so much for this video! I am a first year English student and I think I really want to work in publishing one day, but there just is not that much information surrounding it online. So this video was really helpful and I cannot wait for the rest of the series! My question would be: Do you need any specific qualifications for any jobs in publishing? And do any publishing houses offer work experience or training schemes? Thank you!x
ОтветитьWHERE WAS THIS VIDEO WHEN I THOUGHT I WANTED TO GO INTO PUBLISHING??!! (Don't worry, I eventually figured out that book publishing is not the career I want to go into. But I'm glad you're doing this series for everyone out there who IS pursuing a career in publishing :))
ОтветитьAnother super interesting video! Will for sure try these things (they all sound interesting to me!). I've actually found it really fascinating doing uni reading because it's taught me to enjoy books I don't necessarily like.
ОтветитьDespite not being hugely interested in a career in publishing, nor do I meet all 5 of your suggested criteria, I still found this video really fascinating. It's so cool to hear you chatting away about something that you're obviously both passionate about and have a talent for. Keep doing what you're doing! :-)
ОтветитьYes please! Gimme more!
ОтветитьYou’re funny
ОтветитьI love the idea of going to free book events in ur area. But is there anywhere (like websites) where I can find out where and when these events are happening? I live in the suburbs so am able o travel into London!
ОтветитьI’m sure you don’t need any more ideas, but I’d love a video on freelancing in publishing!!
ОтветитьGetting strong Queen's Nose vibes from your beginning and end screens here. ;)
