Yeah, I feel old now - in 1994 I was an experienced player (started on ZX Spectrum 64k)... Looks like after many, many years I'll invest some money into a new game (The old one I copied illegaly of course - 9 floppy disks, that was a lot!). Thanks for this review.

The vita chamber in Bioshock is pronounced v-eye-ta. Not 'v-ee-ta'.

Something I really did like was how explosives are a double edged sword, if you use say grenades to destroy a few enemies, you can expect all the loot will be also destroyed.
That's why I really loved using the SMG I think it's called scorpion. It has very acceptable recoil and accuracy, full auto head shots are fairly easy, and the ammo is nearly everywhere.
Also the magnum pistol was beefy, and the visual gore feels EXTREMELY juicy when taking on cyborg enemies who still have most of their human parts intact.

Downloaded this on my rog ally and it’s so damn fun to play handheld in bed.

I wanted to play classic system shock but couldn’t find a suitable port but I played systemshock 2.

Was wondering if it was good as I am a fan of SS2. I saw the IGN review was available, I saw Gameranx review was available. I went with Gameranx on this one.

Loving it but also regretting going 3 on combat. It's relentless, with constant dying.

Bro I remember the original and leaning was hard cause u used Z and V I think and my hands could reach and the controles was way to complicated but even though I still love it

I’ve been playing System Shock 2 and now starting this gem what an awesome game.

The fact the game just LOOKS as if the original game got ported straight into a modern game engine, with modern visual gimmicks (first-time item pickup fiddling, flashing Security card at door, slapping new cybertech on yourself, etc.) Along with some nice modernstyle control format.
It's system Shock, the modern release version. It's note a 'remake' or 'inspired-by' creation, etc. It is simply System Shock and it's the 2023 version, rather than ye olde 1994 version.

I have just started playing and the graphics arent to my taste also the colour palette is oversaturation on steroids. I will keep going for a bit before deciding whether to get a refund.

I completed it with a controller on a TV but this is definitely not meant to be played that way. Which is a shame, because it’s only a couple of steps away to being completely playable with a controller.

I heard this was what the dev team of Prey (2017) had in mind.

Back in the day I've played the original game, and the sequel, and they were, in my opinion, awesome!
However, I would advise reading the bad reviews on Steam, regardless of how many good reviews there are, the reason being that when you buy the game, you'll get the good, but as for me, I want a heads up on what I'll be buying just in case those "few bad things" outweigh all the good, such as the presence of DRM's, or being forced to comply to some Third-Party Terms of Service Agreement, or having to create a "Third-Party Account", or any stipulation that indicates I must merge my steam account with their website as part of some "account creation" process, just using these as an example. As for this game, I'm not going to buy it, because the "bad reviews" are pretty consistent, so I have no reason to doubt that the problem exists, I mean, I could understand if only one person was complaining about something, but all across the board people seem to be unhappy with a particular aspect of the game.

I wish they would do this with the original Deus Ex. In the meantime, I'm giving this a shot on PC.

What i loved about the game is that it is explained in audiologs why the layout of the station is so maze-like. Also i dont agree about the game not being scary, its just not scary in your hollywood blockbuster title way. I find the layout of the map, the lack of handholding, the loneliness and all the stories of the audiologs make the atmosphere really intimidating and creepy. Sure it doesnt have jumpscares and shit like that, but if you immerse yourself in its world it can be really terrifying.
