Labs are wonderful dogs! My girl is a 12-year-old black Lab who doesn't seem to shed too much at all - not sure why that is :)

How would he be hard to groom? He's a Lab, they love to get wet.

Labs are my favorite breed, I’ve had all three colors but my favorite is the yellow. You don’t need a tv if you get a yellow lab.

We had our yellow Lab, Sammy, until a few years ago when it was finally his time to go. 😟 He loved everyone and everyone loved him because he was just so darn lovable and adorable, unless, of course, you were another "alpha" male dog... then he would go into pure "alpha" mode himself and I even had to literally dive in between him and a pit bull to save the pit's life. The pit came out a little bloody, but not a scratch on Sammy... and then he went right back to being just a sweet as ever. I only ever saw him "yield" to another dog and that was when an extra large Great Dane came into the dog park and Sammy rolled over onto his back with his paws in the air, obviously saying, "Okay, you're the boss!" We miss that boy!

I grew up around a Labrador and mum still has her to this day. Whenever I visit she always jokes that the dog will be coming home with me because she sheds so much you end up with dog hair all over you. This is further compounded by the fact that she is a very affectionate dog and likes to be pressed right up against you all the time.

I've owned three lab mixes, I love them, big friendly dogs who love everyone they see. My last one weighed over 100 pounds and stood level with my waist when I stood up. But oh their hair, trcuphey shed constantly and their hair is hollow like a porcupines and it sticks to everything, especially furniture, clothes, carpet and everything in your home except hard floors, then it just piles up in corners. It's nearly a full time job to clean up after them but I still love em.

My sister had a yellow they raised from a puppy. Samson was a big, sweet doofus. He met my children when they were 7 and almost 1. Kris was just learning how to walk. Samson came trotting through the hallway to the kitchen and saw Kris standing there. As trotted by, he paused, licked Kris’ face from his chin to his little faux-hawk and kept going.

Kris stood there stunned and then dropped onto his butt and cried. Poor Samson was so confused. I assured him that he was a good boy and that Kris was fine. He apologized by bringing Kris his favorite, very slobbery toy. Then he almost knocked Kris over with his tail.

Samson didn’t learn about living with a kid until 3 1/2 years later when my sister and BIL changed their minds about having kids. By then, he was slowing down. Still a toddler in a dog suit, but not as rambunctious as he’d been when he was younger.

Used to own a Labrador retriever but she had to be put down due to old age 😢

For the record, if you lab is at home, with their pack( a pack just being their family, not greek letters), then they are just "chill"...It's one reason for their popularity. The other being they love kids.

My neighbor near me has two labs they are so smart and come visit me and my dog every day my dog is a Chow Chow and they all best friends it’s so cute!

We had a Lab named Frosty growing up, and he was amazing. Unfortunately he passed away due to an unfortunate accident. We missed him so much and refused to have other dogs until some years later
