2023 here and the Red White and Royal Blue movie just came out. READ THE BOOK. PERFECT representations and BEAUTIFUL writing, fandom is hilarious and the movie is even better. The actors completely grasped their characters, I loved it so much and I even got my friend who hates books to read it because she loved it so much.

I read We were liars after watching this video and it was just meh. I guess I feel for the British accent and quips! Hopefully song of Achilles is better.

They both die at the end is my favorite book! It inspired me to live life. I’ve heard that people are disappointed with the set up but Death-Cast wasn’t the point of the book IMO.

The best books I've read are they both die at the end, the first to die at the end both all books by Holly Jackson and the whole Cherb Series

my problem with midnight library is that i hated nora. She is so pedantic, selfabsorved and victimiced that i cannot have any empathy towards her. Therefore, i did not care for anything that was happenning to her.

omg I feel so stupid because he said rwrb was easy to read🥲I actually struggled a lot- I mean english is not my first language but Ive read english books before and for me personally rwrb was the hardest one to read yet.
I agree that there were no big consequences like at all but I really needed this. Something cute and just that little too perfect relationship was pure escapism for me. I love the characters and I’m so excited for the movie to come out <3

As a fan of greek mythology, reading the Song of Achilles was almost surreal. Spoilers ahead:

Like, I knew what was going to happen, every story beat, every plot point, every death. I could see it coming the whole time, but it still hit me in the gut like a semi-truck. It was like bracing for a slap in the face and getting run over by a fucking train. I am completely emotionally and physically broken, 11/10.

The Song of Achilles is a work of art. I'm really sensitive to angst-sad books and would bawl my eyes at any bit of sadness and would forget it afterward. But The song of Achilles left a deep scar in my heart. After finishing it I wanted minutes to get my feelings together. It hurt so bad that I couldn't even cry. It ripped out every single piece of my heart.

If you need a book that's more interesting for They Both Die at The End, read The First to Die at The End.

Based on your criticism of They Both Die at the End, I really do think you would enjoy the prequel, The First to Die at the End, as it explains backstory of the Deathcast system, and goes into the experiences of different people in different stages of their lives.

I will never forgive Song of Achilles for what the author did to Briseis’ story. The complete erasure of her story and the suffering she faced to make Achilles her perfect male savior is (to me) absolutely disgusting. At least other renditions of the story have Achilles kidnapping her but they fall in love - still iffy, but acknowledges the truth of her story. And the number of readers who just gloss over it or ignore it is kind of shocking to me.

Hi! I personally think that "They both die at the end" was an amazing book, even though I agree on some of your points. The prequel "The first to die at the end" is better, in my opinion. It gives more context and it has the world building that "They both die at the end" lacks of. It also makes the secondary characters of "They both die at the end" more relevant, since they also appear in this book. And it has more romance, which I really liked. So, I would highly recommend it if you have read the other book <33

I found midnight library sooo pretentious and condescending. Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin does this story better and any self-help book does motivation to live better - Matt Haig's non-fiction included.

You either really hate we were liars or you really love it there’s no in between. Honestly I don’t think I should have read the song of Achilles, I never want to read a book ever again because I know my standards won’t be met it’s just that good.

I’m gonna have to add a star to your rating of The Midnight Library and HEAVILY disagree that it’s a self help book disguised as fiction. And I’m 21. I loved the philosophical aspect of it all (Nora Seed literally studied philosophy and it’s constantly brought up). Also the way that Haig explained how the library works added more depth in my opinion. And I was HOPING for the ending too not expecting it. It also made me cry.
It helps that I knew nothing about the author but even after hearing that Haig pumps out books I can still separate that from the Midnight library.

I didn't really like "They both die at the end". Well, the concept was quite cool, but it all got pretty weird for me. The queer representation felt very forced, which was very disappointing for me. It's still a good book, just over hyped in my opinion.

The Midnight Library was down right the worst book I’ve ever read it’s the kind of thing that a person who hasn’t suffered from major depression would write for someone with major depression thinking it would help and not annoy them instead but oh well :)

I'm about 2 thirds, or a touch more, through The Midnight Library, but haven't picked it up in months. 😅
I kiiinda like it, but honestly it just starts to feel very repetitive by the later portions. The pacing, the dialogue, and Nora's outlook and expression of her struggle just feels like you're being told the same thing over and over.
I'll probably still finish reading it sometime just to see where it goes! But the repetition just killed my enthusiasm for it.

I kind of like that there isn't a struggle tied to queer romance stories because that's kind of how it always is and that's not how it is in real life. There are queer people who are just a queer and not a victim of anything. It's nice to see it normalized and not like it's a struggle all the time
