2023 here and the Red White and Royal Blue movie just came out. READ THE BOOK. PERFECT representations and BEAUTIFUL writing, fandom is hilarious and the movie is even better. The actors completely grasped their characters, I loved it so much and I even got my friend who hates books to read it because she loved it so much.
ОтветитьI read We were liars after watching this video and it was just meh. I guess I feel for the British accent and quips! Hopefully song of Achilles is better.
ОтветитьYesssss yesssss SoA is this
ОтветитьThey both die at the end is my favorite book! It inspired me to live life. I’ve heard that people are disappointed with the set up but Death-Cast wasn’t the point of the book IMO.
ОтветитьThe best books I've read are they both die at the end, the first to die at the end both all books by Holly Jackson and the whole Cherb Series
ОтветитьCan anyone say is it possible to do any literary theory in this books?
ОтветитьI was also a little underwhelmed by They Both Die at the End. I don't really get the hype. That being said... I am going to read the prequel, haha
Ответитьi just finished reading red white and Royal Blue today- and I agree with you that it is a bit too perfect-( but I was stuck in a rlly long reading slump, and this book kinda pulled me out of it so idc) and idk why but every time the book mentioned the t-shirts with 'history, huh?' on them my eyes just kinda filled up, and overall i luvv it
ОтветитьThe more I watch your reviews on books that i read the more I realize we’re so different
Ответитьmy problem with midnight library is that i hated nora. She is so pedantic, selfabsorved and victimiced that i cannot have any empathy towards her. Therefore, i did not care for anything that was happenning to her.
Ответитьomg I feel so stupid because he said rwrb was easy to read🥲I actually struggled a lot- I mean english is not my first language but Ive read english books before and for me personally rwrb was the hardest one to read yet.
I agree that there were no big consequences like at all but I really needed this. Something cute and just that little too perfect relationship was pure escapism for me. I love the characters and I’m so excited for the movie to come out <3
I honestly think they both die at the end is an overrated book...I mean It was the mosstttt expensive book that I bought...yet I did not read it till the end ..I mean I tried sooooooo hard to read it.. but it just was not as great as people described it..
Ответитьi need this man's life HE READS BOOK FOR LIVING
ОтветитьAs a fan of greek mythology, reading the Song of Achilles was almost surreal. Spoilers ahead:
Like, I knew what was going to happen, every story beat, every plot point, every death. I could see it coming the whole time, but it still hit me in the gut like a semi-truck. It was like bracing for a slap in the face and getting run over by a fucking train. I am completely emotionally and physically broken, 11/10.
The Song of Achilles is a work of art. I'm really sensitive to angst-sad books and would bawl my eyes at any bit of sadness and would forget it afterward. But The song of Achilles left a deep scar in my heart. After finishing it I wanted minutes to get my feelings together. It hurt so bad that I couldn't even cry. It ripped out every single piece of my heart.
ОтветитьIf you need a book that's more interesting for They Both Die at The End, read The First to Die at The End.
ОтветитьBased on your criticism of They Both Die at the End, I really do think you would enjoy the prequel, The First to Die at the End, as it explains backstory of the Deathcast system, and goes into the experiences of different people in different stages of their lives.
ОтветитьI will never forgive Song of Achilles for what the author did to Briseis’ story. The complete erasure of her story and the suffering she faced to make Achilles her perfect male savior is (to me) absolutely disgusting. At least other renditions of the story have Achilles kidnapping her but they fall in love - still iffy, but acknowledges the truth of her story. And the number of readers who just gloss over it or ignore it is kind of shocking to me.
ОтветитьHi! I personally think that "They both die at the end" was an amazing book, even though I agree on some of your points. The prequel "The first to die at the end" is better, in my opinion. It gives more context and it has the world building that "They both die at the end" lacks of. It also makes the secondary characters of "They both die at the end" more relevant, since they also appear in this book. And it has more romance, which I really liked. So, I would highly recommend it if you have read the other book <33
ОтветитьFINALLY someone else who likes We Were Liars😭
ОтветитьI found midnight library sooo pretentious and condescending. Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin does this story better and any self-help book does motivation to live better - Matt Haig's non-fiction included.
Ответитьwe were liars was way too confusing, but maybe i'm just stupid. i didn't even finish it, but i'll probably try to read it again sometime
ОтветитьYou either really hate we were liars or you really love it there’s no in between. Honestly I don’t think I should have read the song of Achilles, I never want to read a book ever again because I know my standards won’t be met it’s just that good.
ОтветитьI’m gonna have to add a star to your rating of The Midnight Library and HEAVILY disagree that it’s a self help book disguised as fiction. And I’m 21. I loved the philosophical aspect of it all (Nora Seed literally studied philosophy and it’s constantly brought up). Also the way that Haig explained how the library works added more depth in my opinion. And I was HOPING for the ending too not expecting it. It also made me cry.
It helps that I knew nothing about the author but even after hearing that Haig pumps out books I can still separate that from the Midnight library.
I didn't really like "They both die at the end". Well, the concept was quite cool, but it all got pretty weird for me. The queer representation felt very forced, which was very disappointing for me. It's still a good book, just over hyped in my opinion.
ОтветитьThe Midnight Library is a masterpiece. One of my favorite books ever.
ОтветитьHonestly, I thought Circe was better than Song of Achilles…
ОтветитьI get the appeal of We were Liars, but I'd be the liar if I said I enjoyed it myself
ОтветитьI have read all but “Red, White and Royal Blue” and they’re are all SUCH. GOOD. BOOKS.
ОтветитьThe Song of Achilles’s ending is amazing, one of my favorite endings of all times it’s just… the most perfect ending that suits them and really hit my heart and ripped it out. still cannot get my mind off of it after finishing it
ОтветитьSong of Achilles >>>>>>>>>
Ответитьstill waiting for part 2
ОтветитьThe Midnight Library was down right the worst book I’ve ever read it’s the kind of thing that a person who hasn’t suffered from major depression would write for someone with major depression thinking it would help and not annoy them instead but oh well :)
ОтветитьI'm about 2 thirds, or a touch more, through The Midnight Library, but haven't picked it up in months. 😅
I kiiinda like it, but honestly it just starts to feel very repetitive by the later portions. The pacing, the dialogue, and Nora's outlook and expression of her struggle just feels like you're being told the same thing over and over.
I'll probably still finish reading it sometime just to see where it goes! But the repetition just killed my enthusiasm for it.
Finally someone who appreciates we were liars
ОтветитьI kind of like that there isn't a struggle tied to queer romance stories because that's kind of how it always is and that's not how it is in real life. There are queer people who are just a queer and not a victim of anything. It's nice to see it normalized and not like it's a struggle all the time
ОтветитьI’m sorry but we were liars did not do it for me😭
ОтветитьWorking my way through some of your videos as a new subscriber :) I loved We Were Liars, i read it in a few hours whilst waiting about a Spanish airport for my flight home from holiday a few years ago!
Ответить0121-you’re about to do one made me cackle how did I never notice that before 😂😂😂
Ответитьwe were liars had me in TEARS
ОтветитьRed white and royal blue is idyllic on purpose. It’s meant to reflect the best in the world. And I think only the prince is anti-colonial
ОтветитьPLEASEEE PELASE PLEASE DO A GOOD GIRLS GUIDE TO MURDER
Ответитьmy copy of song of achilles is 1/3rd of jack's! whyyy
Ответить‘Call me Peter Pan cause I was Captain Hook-Ed’
Well I can’t sub to someone twice
You need to read A Good Girls Guide To Murder
ОтветитьTo everyone who has not read The song of Achilles yet, go read it now. It is incredibly beautiful and the writing is gorgeous. I would do anything to read it for the first time again. It will shatter your heart into a million pieces though
