Another great video mat. Those SOOC files look amazing.
ОтветитьInteresting ; I ordered that in the Black pain / Brass , the hood comes with a protective lens in it , I am still deciding upon the proper usage and capabilities of this lens. My intention is to use it on the SL-3 , and my M 's , Matt I am not certain how it will work with film but in digital is seems to have it's strengths. Again I am still getting use to this lens , my " Go To " lens is the SUMMICRON DR 50mm F2 that I collected , I would like to pick up the 75mm 1.4 Leica portrait lens , or if budget the Voightlander 75mm lens. Okay .. I watch your reasonings now . We shall see What Matt finds out.
ОтветитьHave you been able to use Leica's own reissue of this particular Noctilux, how do both compare?
Also, does LLL provides the lens with 6-Bit coding?
Hey Matt✌
Actually, it's not really my thing or area of interest when it comes to shooting with models😉 But as an attentive observer, it's great staged and really great pictures have been taken, so hats off to your professional work👌The video in general has also turned out very well✌ The lens also looks cool and certainly has fine nuances in terms of image quality and style. And for potraits, at least for those who like it, it's certainly a good alternative to the top lenses. But this is also about the character, great video and thanks for sharing and showing. I was too tired yesterday to take part in the zoom 😢

I had one of these on pre-order, then life intruded and I cancelled. I definitely still want one. Looks amazing.
ОтветитьAnother interesting video, Matt. I hang on every word. You've spoken and written highly of the Voigtlander 50mm f/1.2 in the past, so I'd be very interested in a comparison between that one and this one. What do you think?
ОтветитьYou made my Thanksgiving! I always enjoy your videos as you are a consummate professional and still not smug or arrogant as a few are in your field. So thanks for just being so damned good at what you do.
The lens looks luscious. It really does look luscious. Computer designed lenses had all their "imperfections" designed out and wound up as engraver's lenses. That 1966 is just beautiful. Thanks for the solid, in depth and professional, thoughtful review. It is an "as usual" Osborne review: just great. Cheers.
I own the LLL "1966" and the LLL Panchro. The "1966" is definitely more cinematic. The 1966, although heavy, has been on my M11 for a while.
ОтветитьI was thinking the other day. 95% of the photos I take are at f8.
ОтветитьI've been trying to figure out more about the aperture blades. How many? Are they rounded? Their website doesn't say. I'm looking for a 50mm lens that still has a rounded aperture when stopped down around f/4 - f/6.5. I'm hoping to find one that renders similarly to the thypoch simeria 28mm f/1.4. Thanks Matt!
ОтветитьNever tried this lens on an SL. It is easier to hit focus that way versus using an M?
ОтветитьYour videos are never good for my wallet!!!
ОтветитьThe rendering reminds me a bit of the Leica Thambar. Well done, LLL!
Ответитьgreat update and review of your gear matt, but I want to know and ask you already have Voigtlander 50mm F2 APO, TTartisan 50mm F0.95, and now this Light lens lab 50mm F1.2 1966, if you still own them? or sold off?
ОтветитьDo you have focusing accuracy issue with the LLL 50 1.2 at M rangefinder cameras?
ОтветитьIn the so-called 'cinematic' category I'd include the MF Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 AIS and to a lesser degree the AF Nikkor 105 (and 135) f/2D AF-DC. The 50mm lens can produce absolutely delicious images . . . my favourite lens of all . . . Nikon only recently discontinued it! . . . that's how special it was!
ОтветитьTry a good copy of the original 35mm double aspherical Summilux-M. Utterly amazing.
ОтветитьGreat pictures Matt and nice summer memories in CZ! 🙂I love the flare in the video! It's magic!
ОтветитьStunning Photos Matt👍👍🍀📷
ОтветитьReminds me very much of the Voigtlander Nokton F1.2. Very nice rendering, but I think the Voigtlander is a touch more clinical in mid apertures.
ОтветитьMy unsharp Sonnar is my cinema lens :)
ОтветитьReally interesting lens and as I am flying over to London and will check it out. Flying from Perth to London, really long flight! The images this lens gives reminds me of the MS-OPTICS Sonnetar 50mm f1.3 (M-mount) by Miyazaki Kogaku. I am actually bringing two MS-Optics lens with me to London and as I like the vintage look it has. If you get a chance you should check out the MS-Optic lenses. They are whacky and cool lenses at the same time. Their construction is a questionable, but solid. You have to change the aperture setting first, then you can turn the focus ring in that order. I really do like the images they provide.
ОтветитьGreat informative video Matt. Thank you. How do you think this lens would compare to a 50mm summilux v2 from 1964? Worth the investment?
ОтветитьThanks for another great video, Matt. Very cool photos. The results from the Light Lens Lab 1966 look fantastic. My favorite lens for something similar is the 50mm Summilux f/1.4 v.2 (E43). It's a half a stop slower but it looks amazing and is really versatile. Mine is from 1962 and the optical formula stayed the same after that for around 40 years. I got it along with a single-stroke M3 and I really like the look of the images that it renders on my M10-P.
ОтветитьLove this lens as well. A real gem. I take the UV filter out of the hood to avoid extra flares or reflections at night.
ОтветитьPlease don't make me want this lens 😂 think it should be nice for b&w with that orange coating...
ОтветитьGreat review and wonderful photos. I'd love to see a comparison in the same lighting between this lens and the 50 lux ASPH with a diffusion filter on.
ОтветитьSome cinematic lenses that I really enjoy playing with are Sirui anamorphic ones, I desqueeze in post. I’d be interested to see what you thought and be happy to lend you some when I’m back in dorset
Ответитьi am not able to pretend to make any comment on the photography technic but I want to say that the " female model you find at last minute " are georgious !
ОтветитьHi Matt- great shoot and vid! I use an EM1ii; I have the Nokton 42.5 and am wondering how the 25mm might compare to this lens? I suspect it may be a bit more modern-looking and sharper, maybe less glow? Are you aware of a M43 lens or other that might adapt well and offer similar rendering without fighting the crop factor?
ОтветитьI just can't get past the onion rings this lens produces and the 15 aperture blades vs 16 blades on the Leica Noctilux you can see the difference when stopping down. The Leica re-release is more than just a one trick pony, if you need to increase your depth of field once you stop down the quality of the bokeh remains beautiful and the quality of sharpness goes to another level it's truly a magical lens, much better than the 0,95 in my opinion.
ОтветитьGreat video and lens. How would you compare it to the Voigtländer 50mm 1.2?
