Lack of fellow gringos? Adding it to my list of good cities.
That is the specific reason I have been in Guatemala City for 3 years. Too many of us (absolutely including NGO workers) tends to add more negatives than positives.

I had the privilege to live in the enchanted place known as Xalapa as a high school exchange student in 1961. I was able to return in the 1970's related to my business activities in tourism. What I enjoyed most were the people, music, dance, food, coffee, pastries, conversation and chess en cafeteria Chedraui, the people, surrounding areas, Hacienda Consulapa, Coatepec, the people, long day trips or weekend getaways to Puebla, the Port City of Veracruz. Did I mention how much I enjoyed the people, music, dance, food, nearby adventures and people? Xalapa en mi corazon para siempre - un gringo convertido a jaorcho.

My wife and I love Xalapa and Coapetec. Her father was born there and she has extended family here and in Puebla. I agree the central city is very walkable and the people are very friendly. Spanish is a prerequisite however as we didn’t speak English the entire time we were there. Coffee is very good and the archeological museum is first rate. I loved it and their baseball team is known as the Xalapenos which you have to support 😂

Another absolutely wonderful and professionally done video.
I would love to see a video on the top things to do in some of these cities/states as far as entertainment. I, for one, like watching sports, basketball in particular. Would be great to kniw about sports teams, events, etc. Also, would be great to hear about universities that have regular events including sports, theater, etc. Just my two cents!

If US citizens get scared by the media coverage of Mexico, take a look at the world peace index rankings and see where the “safe” US is ranked. Mexican people are kind, giving, friendly people. Don’t judge by what you see on the trusty Web🙄

I have been watching your videos now for a couple of years. Always looking for a place low on expats and tourists and beautifully green.
This place just might be the ticket. Thank you!

One of my most beloved cities in my State of Veracruz. I used to go there from the Port every single week for work, loved it! since their people are adorable and their food is amazing <3

Hills, Hills, Hills! This wasn't really touched upon in the video, but there are a lot of very steep hills, especially in centro. If you are older or have mobility issues, this will not be the ideal city for you. Very correct to say you won't really find too many English speakers here ( a plus, in my opinion). A very beautiful city, with kind people, and delicious coffee!

I currently live in CDMX, I’ve also stayed in Oaxaca. I am looking to move to a city with great nature in Mexico that’s not super touristy but also isn’t heavily isolated. I loved Oaxaca for dating more indigenous looking Mexican women but I’m looking for somewhere that also has natural water. Could be a beach or can be another nice body of water. Thank you for any help you can provide!

How is the air quality of Xalapa? Is it polluted? After living in Mexico for years, I was surprised to learn how polluted Puebla is. Also how is the humidity? I did hear that Xalapa is very humid & can damage your things. Is that true?
