I agree with you on alot. I’m reformed baptist. I hold mostly to the 1689 london baptist faith and confession because of my interpretation of scripture. I think the church does have authority to teach on things the bible doesnt make clear but the church has no right to call third tier doctrine a salvation based doctrine. Also the “Catholic church” you are referring to with the decrees you referenced from the early AD’s is commonly and obviously referencing the catholic church (church universal, small “c”) that is not Roman Catholicism.

Why be Catholic when you can be a Christian?
Jesus is our mediator not a priest.
Jesus was the Rock not Peter!
All that knowledge and you don’t understand something as simple as this?

As a new catholic. I’m not worried about the church teaching about or throughout the bible, I am more worried about the church teaching things that are not biblical at all like prayers to saints/mary, the rosary and I am most worried about church authorithy. We’ve all seen what can happen in the past when the church has all the authority and leads people down the wrong path with non biblical teachings.

Too bad that 1 Peter 3:21 says water baptism doesn’t save anybody. He has a problem with scripture alone; I have a problem with people just making stuff up and teaching wrong things. Protestant Christianity is the only Christianity that has what it takes to say “Go read the Bible yourself and tell me if I’m wrong.” He makes the claim that it takes an infallible interpreter to understand the Bible. I’m curious who that is, because the Bible says that everyone is a sinner: me, you, him, the pope, everyone. So that’s either true, or the Bible is wrong. I wonder what his take is on Acts 17 where the people of Berea search the scriptures to see if what Paul and Silas was correct or not.

No you are wrong every Christian in the world does NOT believe that the Catholic Church has authority. Only God has authority. You do not get to write doctrine!

Christians follow Jesus. Catholics follow the catholic church. They follow different gospels. The catholic gospel is not the gospel taught by Paul. Paul clearly stated " If anyone preaches any other gospel than the one we have preached to you, even if they be angel from heaven, let them be accursed." Preaching catholicism is accursed.

The "Church" is not Catholic. The Church, the Bride of Christ, is found in many denominations of Christianity. The "generic, invisible" Church does not exist. The Lord knows His sheep, and they are not invisible to Him. The miracle is not that the Catholic church has survived centuries. The miracle is salvation through Christ. Jesus is returning for His Bride. Let's each of us prepare ourselves as a ready Bride for Him. 🙂

Why adopt a faith whose clergy have a long history of committing abuse against the vulnerable, and turning a blind eye to it? There's also the collusion with some very unpleasant political regimes. Avoid religion liker the plague, especially Catholicism.

Convert to eastern ORTHODOXY at this very moment. You need REAL chuerch authority!

The difference is Christians separate Authority from Religion, know why? Cause only Jesus or God has the Authority to absolve your sins not someone or something claiming to hold that power like cough cough a pope claiming to be the stand in for god or claiming to be a holiness in itself👀🤷🏼‍♂️

On the cross the man next to Jesus confess he was a sinner and just believes in him as the son of God, no baptism and he went to heaven

My Mom always had an issue with the Catholic Church but I got her to come to mass a few months back. me and her had a conversation tonight about how we felt Jesus with us in mass today and all I can say is how grateful I am for our lord bringing me and mom into this wonderful place. I hope all people can find it in their heart to come to mass at least once with an open heart to Jesus

The disciples where called Christians in the first century church in acts. ❤ I come from a Catholic background and wouldn’t never go back to it. Unbiblical baptising babies and praising worshipping Mary in most Catholic Churches so now I just pray for the churches

To be christian means you believe jesus died on cross for your sins. Thats it. Being christian is every denomination. Methodist, baptist,protestants, catholicism...all "christian"
