My belief is simple. I believe that Jesus Christ was and is who he claimed to be. And try to follow his teachings to the best of my ability.

Orthodoxy is western christianity, the other one is anti western ti was created against the western christianity after the schism, Orthodoxy is universal !

If someone is Catholic, Orthodox or Protestant it tells me they are unable to read the bible for themselves and do not listen to God or his Son.

All three of these groups go against the bible for their own traditions and as a result none of them their followers, regardless of what they think either know, follow or have a personal relationship with God or his son.
They can't even tell who God is, even though the bible ouright tells us over and over in plain understandable language that the Father alone is God.

I am a convert to Orthodoxy, from a Methodist background. It has been a wonderful experience understanding and living out the faith passed down from the Apostles, in which I feel more connected to Christ and His Church that he founded on the Day of Pentecost.

I still have respect to my brethren in the West, and hope we may iron out our disagreements in due time and unite under one common faith!

Alas, No mention of the Sabbath day differences.

I view the schism like Disney cartoon vs National Geographic documentary. Western christianity has become nonsense, just blabber. It offers nothing to develop spiritually, and the leaders don't even have a clue of what spiritual development is.

I am Antiochian Orthodox and I have to point out an inaccuracy. The Antiochian Orthodox Church is not in the western rite. It is the eastern rite. We celebrate the same Divine Liturgy as the Greek Orthodox and Russian Orthodox. We have not ever in our history used the catholic mass. Our church was established by the apostles in Antioch, the first major Christian city. I just wanted to correct you, as it really offends me to be called part of the western rite. We are the Eastern Rite and the first Patriarchate.

Grew up ("Eastern") Orthodox. No one prostrates, nor raises their hands in prayer. That's not a thing. Never seen it in my life. Also, the "big central dome" in Orthodox churches is a big myth. Many churches in Greece or Serbia don't have a dome, and are just plain basilicas in shape.

Ive studied this topic years ago and am continually amazed by the nuance of the disagreements. Yes, these are important ideas but I'm not sure I would have had the conviction to follow through with a split over the single word or prepositional phrase.

When I explain it to a non-Christian, I tend to just say they all share 99.8% and it's a shame they won't reunite.

You should do an update on the oriental orthodox, who though the assistance of modern translation software have determined they believed the same thing as everyone else regarding Christ's nature the entire time. The language barrier made everyone think otherwise because of pure miscommunication, and many oriental orthodox churches are establishing communion with eastern orthodox churches now.
