I had hysterectomy at 35, 30 years ago. HRT at the time was horrible for me. Mood swings and weight gain.
ОтветитьUnbelievable, how much is this topic overlooked. I am in my late 30s, and I'm glad it is more widely discussed now. Thank you, Dr Haver and Dr Huberman for sharing this valuable info
ОтветитьI LOVED this episode. I learned so much about being post-menopause. Thank you soooooooo MUCH 🌻🌿🧡
ОтветитьMy doctor said ‘it’s just menopause.’ Turns out, my gut was the missing piece. Now I sleep through the night! I almost forgot! The menopause gut fix is the book which helped me!
Ответитьperimenopause destroyed me, even with HRT and meds, I was a happy person till my 48yo, now I struggle to live only bcs of my daughter. I am an estradiol needy body and have to increase and increase the doses
ОтветитьI went thru early. It makes me sad. I know it’s my fault and also trauma. I smoked off and on. I had a high anxiety and stressful life…. I went thru it boy… I’m 44 & I am really working on my health and trying to reverse the aging process.
ОтветитьPerimenopause is more like 10-15 years.....IMO
ОтветитьBCP are not for everyone. I was on low-estrogen bcp in my twenties, in the early 2000s, and they nearly killed me (extremely high BP, blurry vision, extreme water retention, was about to have a stroke). Symptoms disappeared within three days of stopping bcp. Now in peri, are estrogen options still on the table for someone with that history?
ОтветитьI am an NP who asked to stay on her testosterone (b/c of msk benefits at the time) and I was told by my FEMALE gynecologist it wasn't needed, there is no benefit and would not recommend. I'm SO pissed. And now I am a dried up, weak, shriveled old hag...well, maybe not THAT extreme, but still frustrated. Furthermore, I cited, "as long as I want" with the guidelines and she still balked. Guh.
ОтветитьPlease dr Huberman 🙏 invite endocrinologist thank you very much for all your videos
ОтветитьI know this was 9 months ago but I just listened to it and an in the throes of perimenopause. Thank you for this podcast 🙏🏻♥️
ОтветитьSo what I'm hearing is that if we're over 60, and live in the boonies, we are screwed because our local Doctor's do the bare minimum. It's too bad the supplements like DIM were just dismissed out of hand. Lots of good information for those that have access to decent Doctors.
ОтветитьGreat episode!
You mentioned it for a moment but Andrew it would be SO great to hear a conversation about Endometriosis. I don’t know if it’s just in Australia but the guide of 1 in 7 women is definitely closer to 1 in 4.
🤞
GREAT information ... things I wish I knew sooner!! Thank you for this interview
ОтветитьThis podcast was recommended by my Gyne. More open discussion is exactly what I spoke to my doc about.
ОтветитьI have listened to dr. Haver and many other doctors speaking on the subject of HRT. I researched this subject thoroughly trying to understand what is the best hormonal therapy for me (late menopause). And unfortunately, what Dr Mary Claire Haver and most of the doctors fail to mention in any of their on-line podcasts and interviews is that there is the alternative available to the traditional HRT therapy (i.e.artificial estrogen and progestin hormones) in the form of natural bioidentical hormone products that women can choose from to achieve the lost hormonal balance. These products have been available for over 20 years and yet, no doctors have spoken about such alternative. Nor is Dr Haver who even said that there isn't such a thing as the bio-identical hormones as this is purely a marketing term used in the medical industry. However, the alternative of natural Oestrogen and Progesteron hormones not only exists but is freely available on the market and is very inexpensive (around 40 bucks)! There are natural Oestrogen and Progesteron creams that are as effective as the artificial hormones provided by HRT therapy without any possible negative side effects that HRT therapy carry, especially in the late menopause or post-menopause when the hormonal balance is still crucial for overall good health, brain, bones, younger looking skin, etc. but the risks become bigger with HRT. The active ingredient in the natural Oestrogen cream is natural estriol which is bioidentical to your body’s own oestrogen. The same case is with progesteron cream. And yes, natural progesteron is very effectively absorbed by the skin so no need to take pills (there is a good research to prove that) as Dr Haver states saying that creams are not effective at all, which is not what the research and testimonies of the women who take natural hormonal therapy creams say. I am really sad that Dr Haver is not interested in this objective truth in her OBGYN practise! 😞
ОтветитьI appreciate all the female health and hormone information I can find. This ought to be taught in school
ОтветитьThis episode has changed my trajectory! I really wish I had become a neuroscientist! I’m a teacher, and I am constantly prompting my students to think of the potential of becoming a neurosurgeon. I would love to participate in any studies that relate to menopause or women’s health, or…
I learned about you from one of my fellow teachers, and have been so inspired since we started listening to your podcast. Thank you so much for being you, and sharing your vision. You are awesome!
Such a great episode and thankful for it !
Wondering when Dr. Mary Claire became insulin resistant and is it part of her menopause symptoms.
My doctor is not prescribing hormons for the breast cancer risk, I am suffering with my symptoms for the lack of treatment. Anything natural that can help with that
ОтветитьThank you!!
ОтветитьSuper informative. Great information, however it would have been easier to listen to if Dr. Haver wouldn’t have interrupted every question asked her. Sometimes the person LISTENING needs the context of the question to fully understand the answer.
ОтветитьI am 55 and I believe I am menopausal. So grateful for this so informative Podcast and I have now made an appointment to see my Gyno to be prescribed some HRT. My deepest thanks to you Dr Hubberman and Dr Haver 🙏
ОтветитьI would be curious to hear what Dr. Claire has to say about women born with MRKH Syndrome and how they should navigate this period in their life.
ОтветитьINCREDIBLE episode! THANK YOU!
PLEASE keep bringing the female specific episodes to us, we need them!
Could you please have Dr Lisa Mosconi as a guest?
Btw you are the best interviewer ever! I am often very familiar with the work of people you interview, but you never fail to elevate their work by asking the right questions to highlight how heir work can be translated into action in the most practical way. This happened in this episode, but also in many others. You have the amazing skill to ask the best questions and extract the best out of the people you interview. This is an amazing skill!
Thank you!

ОтветитьAre there supplements for protein that are low sodium (approx <50)? I have Meniere’s Disease and vestibular migraines and am extremely sensitive to salt and sodium. Most of what I’ve seen in protein powders are above 100 mg. Also, an episode on both of those disorders/syndromes would be SO HELPFUL. I’m nearing menopause and my body has become extremely sensitive to triggers causing an issue in getting enough nutrients due to the restriction of diet.
ОтветитьMy mother went through menopause at 39, I am 42 and still have regular cycles. My grandmother went through menopause at 51.
ОтветитьSo men take a blue pill and are all good? I feel like they focused on men’s personal pleasure instead of women’s lives 🤷🏻♀️. Don’t dare mention vasectomies or deal without the blue pill. I think that’s pretty superficial and egotistical on men’s side? This is our health. Am I wrong?
ОтветитьTy! I had a partial hysterectomy in 2007. 1 ovary left. I’m like ok idk when my pm or mp started or ended. I go by my labs but that’s it. So it IS hard to find out what stage I left and/or entered. I just started estrogen late last year. I guess my ovary was like ok I’m tired bye. I really wish I could see a peri/mp specific provider that my insurance covers. Would feel better than just my np. I’m on hrt. Prog and test some I was 48. Estrogen late last year. I had mini hot flashes 2022-2023. Then my ovary took a hike. I assume mp just bc I’m 56 now. I read we shouldn’t be on hrt forever then I read we should. So so confusing
ОтветитьI was told I had adhd and anxiety at 43 and had been put on antidepressants from 37 now I feel sad that it was all perimenopause now I’m 52 and on my way to the Dr to get hrt. I have cried for the past 3 days thinking about the mistreatment I have so many symptoms. I was told by a female dr last year that I was done due to my period being a year ago. I can tell you my body aches are insane I was sent to rheumatologist did not matter that I said I don’t have that either. otherwise I’m healthy a little cuddly in my tummy. I am looking forward to getting answers

ОтветитьMy experience as a woman with doctors had been fantastic. I’m 63 and have been on HRT since 49. It’s your responsibility to educate yourself and find the right medical professionals. Uninformed doctors affect men just as much as women, it’s just our hormone health is way more complicated. I wish women would stop with the I’m a victim because I’m a woman narrative I see in the comments. Informative ep I need to share with my anti-HRT friends.
ОтветитьYes, estrogen tracker!!!! 😊. ❤❤❤
ОтветитьThis is excellent! Thank you! Hormone therapy has greatly improved my quality of life after menopause.
ОтветитьI’m wondering how helpful something like an at-home hormone testing kit would be in tracking the perimenopause to menopause journey. Mira is a brand I’ve seen lately. Your guest didn’t seem aware of anything like that and mentioned coming up with something like an insulin tracker equivalent.
ОтветитьShe talks over him so much which is so annoying! 😬 But it was a great talk and information regardless
ОтветитьI’m dying to reach some large enough platform that will get the medical companies to do this idea: you know how the kids today use pimple patches that are shaped like stars or hearts and we never had that when we were kids and wouldn’t you have loved to have had that? Can we please get The estrogen patch companies to make them in the shape of a heart or a star and like an opaque red or something pretty? How much better would that be? It would just be a cute sticker! Please take up this cause!
ОтветитьThank you so so much for this incredible podcast. Being a recent “post menopausal woman” and struggling, I finally got answers and guidance where my dr was and has not been helpful. I have shared your podcast constantly Andrew. I tell my people your my “go too”
Bless you for sharing your knowledge, your curiosity and most importantly, passion.
Your phenomenal 🙏
My question is to Dr Claire WHY ARE YOU CHARGING double what you quoted last year? Again, we learn its for the rich who heal not the poor teacher who is on Medicaid. I demand she lower her prices she started $1,000 NOW Shes famous and its $1800? so blood work is now part of inflation? She sells her private label of supplements included in pricing. Very, very disappointing....
ОтветитьGreat interview, packed with so much! Dr Haver, thank you! The only suggestion is to let your interviewer finish their sentence before speaking.
ОтветитьSo good , and so appropriated ❤thank you so much 🙏🏻🌻
ОтветитьGod bless all our mama bears... Thank you for the video and I suggest everyone share...
ОтветитьTHIS IS A GOOD ONE HUBERMAN. I COULD THINK OF NO BETTER MORNING TO WATCH THIS, THAN DURING DONALD TRUMPS PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION.
ОтветитьLice🎉
ОтветитьGreat info! However, it would have been nice had she let him finish his questions before cutting him off every time.
ОтветитьThis information came a bit too late for me. Riddled with PCOs adenomyosis utérine fibroids and endometrial cysts for 13 years (likely my perimenopausal years) . I was gas-lighted and ignored during this time.
I was told my bleeding and pain couldn't possibly be as bad as I claimed. Yet I was never given any blood test to even check my iron and red blood cell counts, which were almost nonexistent by the time taken 8 months before my hysterectomy.
Finally, I found an OBGYN who decided I had to have a hysterectomy.
Now, I am finding very little medical support for the hormonal changes this has caused, like instant menopause even though they left one ovary.
I not only wished I had been equipped with this information sooner, but I also wished my doctors had any desire to adequately educate themselves with this information. I feel completely unsupported medically, as they have done what they felt they can. The rest is the body's normal response to a hysterectomy, without any hormonal support. How can the body have a normal response to a removal of a critical body organ? I don't get it.
I feel like my OB just wants to deliver babies. There needs to be a specialized provider for menopause.
