This marks one year since Garcia almost died after his diabetic coma experience in summer 1986. By this point he had already relapsed into using heroin again. It looks particularly hot and humid at this show.

How blessed we’ve all been to have experienced these beautiful, joyful shows! For me it was 9/78, Giants Stadium. They opened with St. Stephen/Jack Straw. There was no turning back. I was blessed, anointed, indoctrinated, whatever it is. My boyfriend took me to that show. I married that guy. We’ve been going to shows since then. Looking forward to whatever comes next for us all. God Bless!
