The alorithyms brought me here after searches around Raquel Welch's passing and The Three & Four Musketeers being films I love dearly. Thank you Richard Lester for those special films.

Clearly Richard was just born in the wrong country, to me it's as simple as that.

I knew Mr. Lester in Madrid while filming "Golfus de Roma" & "Three Musketeers" and "Four Musketeers".

It's Funny. I Watched A Behind The Scenes On The Making Of Superman The Movie Plus Superman 2. Director Richard Donner Said. I Never Ever To This Day Have Heard From Richard Lester. This Was 2006. After Donner Was Fired And Richard Lester took over Superman 2. I Feel For Both Of Them. Even Though Richard Donner Has Passed Away.

Did Lester intend harm upon Roy Kinnear?
It really looks like it after hearing he made Roy gallop fast on a horse against everyones advice though Roy was clearly in no shape for it being small and very portly then Roy inevitably fell off breaking his pelvis and died in a Spanish hospital.

Lester deserves a lot of credit for doing superman 2. He was put in a bad position and came through

It’s funny, I and a lot of others thought Lester was the wrong guy to take over Superman due to being British (he was still the wrong guy but not for that reason) until I found out a few years back he’s from Philadelphia.

Fuck you for ruining superman!!!! Donner is GOD

When I watch the original Superman II and think of all the scenes that I didn't like cause there were powers used that Kryptonians don't have and cheap fighting scenes, they were all shot by Lester. He's a nice guy, and he did great with the Beatles movies. But Donner was making a better film. Too bad Donner didn't get to finish filming it.

Superman II The Richard Donner cut was utter crap. The proper version is a million miles the best and it's all thanks to him and no one else!!!

How his "Three Musketeers" and "Four Musketeers" films are not more widely acclaimed is baffling to me. They are simply marvelous films with incredible casts and uniformly good performances. Oliver Reed in particular stands out to me; it's like he took a slight Shakespearean approach to his melancholy Athos, and Lee is deliciously evil. Heston is sublime as Richelieu and the bumbling take on York's d'Artagnan is just enough of an unexpected twist.

isn't it the writers that ruined Superman 3 and 4 ? why the director ? when the writing sucks , then shouldn't the movie suck ?

He ruined Superman 2 & 3 it was a tragedy Richard Donner was fired after filming Superman 1.The Richard Donner cut DVD of Superman 2 is superb for anyone who hasn't seen it.Lester should have refused to direct Superman 2 & 3 if he was a true professional. The fact that he has consistently refused to speak about directing those 2 films speaks volumes.Guilty as charged.

I also loved The Knack & How I Won The War.

One of my favorite directors--Hard Day's Night, Petulia, How I Won the War, the Bed Sitting Room, The Three Musketeers, etc. An amazing and brilliant body of work. Thank you for this interview.

Superman 3 was a wasted opportunity. Terrible film when compared to the first two films. For that Lester is guilty as charged.

I don't know what people got with Lester. He is a talented filmmaker. The problem was the producers who did the dirty on Donner. Donner should of had the opportunity to finish off superman II as the first was a box office success. Lester had a difficult job to finish off while this commotion was going on. He got the film finished.

Great, talented and humorous man. Superman III was a masterpiece. Get over it you Superman freaks! The first one had Otis (comic relief that made Gus Gorman look serious)

I didn't have a problem with lester superman sequels. In my opinion it was the producers of the three superman movies. Lester was one the innovative filmmakers in editing style. Music video wouldn't be the if wasn't for Richard lester.
