Agreed. The issue here is what if your account started as a personal account and later became a music dedicated one. Thing is the likes aren’t coming making your content static cuz your existing followers don’t care about your music. I’ve literally created a personal account and removed people who don’t care about my music. But, my existing followers are also not engaging. So, what do I do? Do I literally just remove people who don’t like my music?

In My opinion, independent artists need to exclusive social media app to introduce their brand & their career for all genres music listeners. Tiktok or others aren't useful enough to artist promotion at this time.

You didn't mention hashtags at all. Is that intentional and thereby deliberately indicating that they don't matter? It seems to me when I use hashtags I only get bot/trash accounts engaging with whatever I post. Maybe I answered my own question here, but curious on your view. Thanks!

This is all really good advice, cheers. However, I've been on IG for over 4 years and have watched my engagement tank. Now maybe I'm not staying up-to-date with the latest trends and hacks, but something has changed, and I hear the same from other musicians (i.e. it's getting much harder to reach people).

Here is a tip for YOU: Try to see all this social media bs from THEIR perspective. All they want is to hook you to indirectly make money from your content. That’s all it is. They just wouldn’t do it otherwise. Just think for a second!! 🧠
Don’t tell me I’m “using it wrong”. THEY use US. By engaging in this elbow race all you do is creating money for instagram & co. You really think you can post your way to the top against millions of bands and artists worldwide???? 😂
Young people realize this more and more. Soon (we’ll “soon”) this will be over. Just like FB died, Insta will. Pssst: AI is everywhere now. No need to post all day 🫢.

Instagram feed is just for "aesthetic things" right now and it's the reason why instagram is dying,is not natural anymore. The reason why artists should focus more on Tik tok to be discovered
