I got this camera at a super-deep discount just last week and have taken 300+ photos with it and I love it!
It's got no stabilization or weather sealing, but my other Sony lenses do and none of the cameras I grew up with had either. It's small, light, runs off of USB power (unlike their recent cameras), takes good 24P 4K and has excellent images. I carry my a7r3 and this so when I don't want to lug around a heavy camera, I can leave the a7r3 at home and take a small bag with this and a 35mm f2.8 pancake lens.
It's still a great deal and I love the excellent autofocus!
got this camera recently, not real impressed, my g7x mark ii takes just as good as photos or better probably
ОтветитьHi Maarten
Does weather sealing required ? Will it be a deal breaker ?
A6100 or Zv-E10 for still street photography in 2023 ?????
ОтветитьWhat settings would you use on the A6100 for events?
ОтветитьI'm a beginner and I'm planning to buy this one..
ОтветитьThanks, you're one of the best..
ОтветитьVery nice, we have a new member in our camera club with a a6100. I will provide information as to your website with this video as well as your setup video. Again, many thanks.
ОтветитьWhich one do you consider the most a6100, Fuji XE3 or a6000?
ОтветитьHi, is there an option for minimum shutter speed when setting auto iso ? Thanks
ОтветитьGood camera for a complete novice? Looking for something flexible for when the family and I are able to go out for trips again. I didn't want to get something that I would want to upgrade within a year or two once I learn the ropes, so I landed on this model vs. a Nikon D5600.
ОтветитьAnother excellent video. The Sony menu system, whilst not incomprehensible, is still not a walk in the park.
Simply setting up IAF and choosing the preferred focus tracking is almost impossible to follow relying solely on the Sony manual.
I simply do not understand why seemingly all camera manufacturers have a system to transfer images to mobile phones- invariably biased in favour of IPhones- I will never purchase an Apple 🍎 phone- mainly due to the, now, savagely high prices and Apples " closed phone" factory engineering. Yes, perfectly understand that I may be one of the few image takes that don't own an IPhone.
However, my clear preference would be for all camera manufacturers to have inbuilt- why not?, permitting the easy wifi/ Bluetooth transfer of images to my computer.
Have yet to see any commentary on this issue.
Seems far, far easier to just transfer images to a computer which obviously has far more storage and may be used to send images and, when I purchase post software, to lightly edit images.
Seems such a basic concept that I must be missing something staring me right before my eyes.
Simply transferring directly from camera to computer, rather obviously, would cut out one time consuming step.
Would appreciate your thoughts in due course.
Hoi, Maarten. Nice material again. You have a lot of interesting and useful stuff on your channel, thank you for that. A6100 is an interesting camera and not expensive. I know you're not a big fan of kit lenses. Could you, please, recommend a budget-friendly alternative (zoom and prime)? Bedankt.
ОтветитьThanks for the background. Total novice here and this is my very first "real" camera. I love that you have a video on best settings for videographers. Now I need that for stills :D
ОтветитьThank you for your review. I was able to upgrade my a6000 with an a6100 and I really happy with that. My goal was to get an a6400 but I should be able to do most of my shooting with that camera. I don't really know if I miss the picture profiles but I got your advice about how to get a profile nearer to the neutral one. All in all I will survive with that camera for now.
ОтветитьNice review. Waiting for your full review on Fuji xt-200. I am confused between a6100 and xt-200. I would be using mostly for travel and family photography and occasionally for videos. In my country a6100 is almost 250usd costlier than xt-200. Could you please suggest which one is better and if a6100 is worth the difference? Thanks in advance. P.S. xt 200 price is same as a6000, is a6000 worth over newly launched xt-200?
ОтветитьHello Maarten..wonderful video..which one is good for me Fuji XT20 or Sony@6100 for photography purpose only.kindly advice..Thank you
ОтветитьHi, Maarten. Is Sony A6100 better than Panasonic GX85? I'm new to videography. I want to shoot a culinary blog on You Tube. I choose a camera.
ОтветитьThank you Maarten, this helped alot
ОтветитьI don't see option of 4k 24fps and 30fps instead i see 25fps. Also, i can see 100fps max in 1080p. Am I missing something in my camera?
ОтветитьI'm planning to buy this camera.. but I'm confused about the lens...whether to start with kit lens or not...and I'm on budget. Pls give me some thoughts. Thank u from Manipur, India.
ОтветитьWhat's your opinion about Canon m50
ОтветитьHey Maarten, I’ve been watching your videos for a while. You do a very good job.👌
Can you please direct me to one of your videos that go through how to set up a a6100 from scratch as this would really help. I’m a new Sony user, never got an alpha before and in a few days I’m going to be getting this camera, thanks, and keep up the great reviews and work on your channel
Thank you! I’d like to share that I use a Sony a6000 and this one to live stream and I’m very happy with it. It provides clean HDMI and won’t turn off after 30 mins lie a Canon I got before. Also, I really like how you make your videos, maestro! 👏🏽 I can’t believe I watch 20+ mins without blinking!
ОтветитьIs there a level inside the EVF like the a6300 where it tells you if your camera is level with the ground?
ОтветитьHi I would like to know how is the quality and picture of kit lens which comes with this camera? 16 - 50mm lens? Is it good for food photography?
ОтветитьI bought this camera as a starter in Sony line and so far the only fallback is the picture profile since I do videos. I guess I have to stick to my ability to color correct and grade (even if the video's flat) for that. This review has got to be one of the most honest I've seen and I can't wait to see more of your reviews!
ОтветитьThank you for this video! Tomorrow I will get mine 6100, can't wait!
ОтветитьThanks for the video!
Does this camera come with an AC adapter?
Maarten. I have to say the way you bring these videos to the Audience is magnificent fully charge with relevant information useful to all. My respects. 🙏 I had my a6100 since it came out and this video was the key to get the full potential from this wonderful device. Thanks.
ОтветитьThanks for the review. I am planing to purchase a DSLR camera and have option to choose from Nikon D5600 with 18-55VR + 70-300VR lens and Sony a6100 with 16-50 + 55-210 non OSS lens. I have gone through both reviews done by you and need your guidance to choose a camera. I am photo enthusiastic and would like to learn by trial and error method. Sony is providing latest technology, however Nikon is best with its simplicity. Your expert opinion would really help me to find a good gear to start with.
ОтветитьI love taking photos but I've never had a mirrorless camera or DSLR, so I am a beginner and I will use it mostly for taking street photos, landscape, portraits and some videos. What would you recommend me, the Sony a6100 with kit lens 16-50 for 770€ or the Fujifilm X-T30 with kit lens 18-55 for 1000€? I like the autofocus of the Sony but I don't know if it's worth the extra money for the Fujifilm.
ОтветитьReally nice review sir
ОтветитьHi Maarten! Great review as always
Got a quick question for you - Can you help choose among the Sony A6000, Nikon D5600 and the Canon 200D ii (250D, SL3)
The main requirement is photography - mainly landscapes and portraits for Instagram. Although I would be using it for casual videos too some times. Lens cost could be concern but for now I think I would fine with just the 50mm prime lens. I am inclined towards the mirrorless because of form factor.
Considering I'm retired and on a fixed budget, this camera may suit my photography needs better than the nearly double in price a6600. Sony definitely has one of the best auto-focus systems out today. I appreciate your thorough reviews.
ОтветитьMaarten, thanks for the videos. You are simply the best!!! I am choosing between the A6100 and A6400. One deciding factor for me is video capability. I am new to shooting log. How big is the difference between S-Log in A6400 and your trick of adjusting down the contrast etc in A6100 in post-processing?
ОтветитьWe're just gonna forget the dude at 17.08 just ate ice
ОтветитьMaarten nice review as always, the burst test was done in raw+jpeg?
ОтветитьHey Maarten what do you suggest for absolute beginners?
A-6000
A-6100
Fuji xt-20
Waiting for your kind reply.
Honestly your videos are so helpful thank you!
ОтветитьThanks for the awesome vid. Very informative. Would I gain very much if I upgraded to the A6600?
ОтветитьI bought this camera today.
Hope it will be the best..
Thanks man...
I heard you mention something about not being able to adjust shutter speed. Does this mean you can't do long exppsurrs with this camera? Thanks in advance
ОтветитьHi Maarten¡¡,What a well explained video you've made. Just an advice, the sensor of my 4-year beloved a6000 was accidentally burnt by a laser beam, so I am looking for a new camera. I mainly shoot stills photos. Is the a6100 the straightforward replacement of the a6000? or maybe I should consider the a6400. Is there any notable difference in image quality among them? Thank you¡¡¡
ОтветитьHi Maarten, great review.
Could please compare alpha 6100 & fujix-a7, which one is better for photo + video..
Maarten please do a review of the new Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.
ОтветитьI wonder if Fuji t4 will outclass this Sony camara or will be around the same.
ОтветитьThanks for another well made and thought out video! I appreciate all the info and love that you always answer any questions I have before I've even thought of them.
Keep up the awesome work!
