Fishing Memories & Trying New Water: How to Pattern Bass During the Spring and Get More Bites

An angler’s success in fishing can be directly tied back to time spent on the water. During that time on the water, you find areas where the fish are located, develop new techniques, and simply learn how to read the water and fish to help you land more bass. However, sometimes that knowledge and time spent on the water can cause an angler to fish memories and completely miss out on the pattern for that given day. In this episode of the Bass Pro Shops Fisherman’s Handbook, we take a look at when to fish memories, and when you should switch up the gameplan to try new water!

Wade begins the episode on a fishery in the Texas Hill Country where he has a good bit of history. He decides to start the day by going to an area where he has had success in the past. As the day unfolds, changing weather conditions force him to go try new areas in search of biting bass. Wade ends up settling into an area where he gets a lot of bites!

In the second half of the show, Wade goes to east Texas during the middle of the spawn. Bass are pushed up shallow and locked in on beds. Watch as Wade first launches his boat and begins the day with one plan, to later adjust and lock in on bedding fish that he can see!
