How does it compare to the Turbo/Turbo S in regards to sound isolation and ride comfort? I tried the GTS its a bit above average noisy, and the ride was a bit on the rough side (PASM Sport Option)

I wonder how many foolish Americans buy a rear wheel drive Porsche and don't know what they are getting into. This and Mustangs are known for being the biggest killers due to their rear wheel drive.

ОтветитьBoth the 992 GTS and the 991.2 GTS are a better option than the GT3 in many ways (quicker too in some circumstances). The lower down torque, smooth increase throughout the rev range, is a better drive.

I have one coming in October with Normal PASM.
Will that be better for daily driver and interstate trips?

ОтветитьInteresting. I bought a 991.2 recently as I couldn’t get an allocation for the 992. Could have ordered a new GTS- probably cheaper and true that the difference in performance isn’t large. The decision was made to go gt3 because of the NA engine. I’ve owned 2 turbos, they are crazy fast but the sound even with an exhaust change doesn’t match the gt3. You can’t beat 9000 rpm for crazy! I’m also a wing guy, but that’s just me. All in, it was a tough choice to go with the older gt3 and your video presents the points between the cars well. Good job.

ОтветитьPut the 992 GT3 and 992 GTS (with RAS) on MPSC2 😀 The review also felt like Jack was holding to Porsche orthodoxy in terms of hierarchy of vehicles and talking points. I personally believe the 981 GTS NA 3.4L or 718 GTS 4L Cayman with PASM/PTV/SC are far more fun and interesting sports cars than the 992 GTS or GT3, they are far more rightsized (in terms of HP and torque) for public roads allowing you to work them. Did you know the 981/982(718) Cayman Chassis has higher torsional rigidity than the 991 and 992 911? Also note, the GT3 has been running to 9000RPM since 2014. I like my Porsches and indeed own more than one including a 991.2 GT3 RS - remember Porsche are masters of marketing and the time a car does round a track is primarily dependant on the skill level and experience of the driver.

ОтветитьGot a new 992 Targa 4s a few months ago. Same color and interior as this one. It is so crazy fast! Have top down as much as possible. So glad the noise when down is not as bad as many said. And the sound of that flat six is glorious.

ОтветитьI'm not sure why someone would get a 992 GTS over an R8. R8 has a bigger better engine, better looks, naturally aspirated V10, etc.
ОтветитьGreat review of a really good, yet overpriced car. In a recent track test a M4 competition x-drive went toe to toe with the 992 4GTS. The Beamer costs significantly less, offers superior daily usability, four seats and a good size trunk. And then there is the C8 zO6....

ОтветитьIt took me 12 days to like and comment. Honestly Jack nailed it on the Final thoughts. This car is my favourite in the Porsche line up. 911 Carerra you can’t beat it.

ОтветитьThanks for the review guys. I have always loved Porsches and the 911 is the iconic version. Obviously I wish the price was lower, but I am so glad there are car companies still making sports cars instead of boring, electrified X-overs.

ОтветитьVery interesting - I loved how you kept it relatively short and to the point, plus that you were able to give perspective on where the car could be improved.
ОтветитьI may be the only one but I prefer the GTS to the GT3. I would still take the Turbo S first then this would be my next choice over the GT3.
