These are how the "downtown guys" talked. Working class kids. In my town we lived on the outskirts, where the rich people lived with their horse farms. I could fake this but it wasn't me. Its nice to be able to fake it as you never know where life is going to take you. You don't mess with these guys so you may need to be able to talk your way out of a jam. Later I worked in New York and it was similar. If I had to go into some working class neighborhood for some reason, I could handle myself.
Then the next day I'd go back to my regular job pushing papers.
