I am taking a class from the Nerdy Knitter about how to take a top down pattern and adjust to your measurements. I believe her next class is specifically a top down yoke adjustment class. I'm sogning up the moment it is available. Lots of love from the Pacific Northwest 🧡

Glad to see someone else not being content with their finished garments. I have frogged many things in the last few years - mainly due to not appreciating my weight loss, but also just totally knitting the wrong size or style. I love jackets knitted in the round but they fit me horribly. As someone who has mainly knitted bottom up items for nearly 50 years (😂), I find knitting in the round challenging. BUT, I'm persevering as I have bought several patterns, including the wonderful Ozetta. I've never been a yolk pattern fan, but your pieces are beautiful, but don't work on you. I'd frog & stick with more traditional styles. Thanks for sharing.

I knew the Whitmoor was going to be on your list 😅 it is a lovely cardigan, but I agree that the yoke is just too deep for you. I can't wait to see how you repurpose all this yarn!

I am so glad you mentioned the problem you had with the uneven stockinette stitches. I had the same problem and for months I tried to figure out what I was doing wrong. Now I know it wasn't me, it was the yarn!

Sorry to say it, but when I saw you pull up your cardigan I could tell that it was pilling. It's not a bad thing per say to have some pilling, but if you only have worn it a few times and not a whole lot it's a shame to then have it look like you have worn it for years.

I really hate you’re not in love with the cardigan you steeked. But I understand your reasoning behind each item. A lot of takeaways from this video. So thank you for another great video.

I have personally boycotted superwash yarns. They feel great but the garment size is unpredictable and the chemicals that are used in production negate the best qualities of the wool fiber. Bye bye superwash.

Thank you Amy for sharing this video with us! It is so helpful to hear tips to consider before diving into a project, there is so much to learn . I think if more of us shared our mistakes, we all might be more successful. I made a gorgeous Zweig sweater and didn’t realize til I was finished that the colors I picked did not go with my skin tone. Might try to over dye it.

I love that your sharing your disappointing projects. I wish more people would be more candid about when things didn't work and they just didn't like the finished project.

I feel like the color theory yarn by two of wands/lionbrand is very stretchy too and spility. I don't like it

I will add that you look very petite. If this is the case, you may need to really examine length in patterns. Most will do a gauge swatch for bust but not for row gauge. Then aside from row gauge you would need to take into account the size of your body and the length of your torso since it tends to be a frequent problem for you.

I'm new to your channel and I really liked this episode. Wow, that Whitmoor cardi manages to make your figure look dumpy and your figure is NOT dumpy! I agree, frog frog frog. Your Icelandic sweater is really beautiful. I bet you can find someone who it will fit and show it off to its advantage - it's a beautiful knit! You seem to have a petite figure and I believe that circular yoke designs can be very trickly to fit properly. I agree that the yoke is too long for you. I also have problems with circular yoked sweaters - namely, I have large boobs so fit it very tricky. It's why I haven't attempted one.

Ahhh- the circular yoke problem! I can identify! Worked so long and hard for my "perfect" Christmas sweater only to be disappointed in the fit. Loved the color and texture of the yarn, just hated the fit. What to do- what to do??!!

As a new garment knitter this type of information is very interesting and helpful.
Although I can’t afford most of the yarns you knit with I would love to see you do a video where you talk about which fibers and blends are good for certain types of projects. And more about how the construction of the yarn affects the garment outcome. You seem to be learning a lot!!

Heck your row gauge on the last cardigan you showed. Even though you’re planning on frogging it, it would be good to know your stitch gauge and row gauge for the next project with that yarn.
I think the main issue you had with that pattern if your row gauge.
Thanks for the video. Great content.

The color work of the uppbot cardigan is absolutely beautiful. It’s a bummer that it fits large on you because it’s stunning. You should definitely consider selling it because the work you did is really impressive and beautiful. I know I would love a cardigan like that.

Hi 👋 dunno if I’m right or if this is possible but maybe you could just steek the whitmore cardigan by the armhole area to lift up the armholes ??? Again not sure and also maybe I phrased that awfully

I've had those z twist yarns do the same thing to my knitting as that merino did for you. The uneven stockinette.

Thanks so much for your analyzes. I'm always worried so much in knitting a garment because there are so many choices and unknowns. I guess only experience will help and you just have to try. Makes me feel better to see experienced garment makers can have the same problems. ❤

I am so glad that you discussed commercial super wash yarn. I got so frustrated with the unevenness of my stitches in one project. I’m going to see if I get better results in non-super wash. Great vlog to hear what you learned about your projects.

I had a feeling the Whitmore cardi was on your list. I'm glad you can repurpose the yarn. I have an Elton cardigan that I want to rip and reuse the yarn but have been hesitant to do it. I did a tubular bind off on the hem and cuffs and I think I have to cut them off. Ugh.

I know this was a video about disappointments, but I think all the projects are beautiful. If you are ever looking for content ideas, it is very interesting to hear your thoughts on a project (yarn/construction etc) once you are finished with a project. I think it's an engineers perspective that makes it so interesting :)

Thank you for these insights. I had the same issue with commercial super washed merino. I made a hat and when blocking it the hat stretched out so much 😢I put it in the dryer which helped. The wearer of the hat then noticed how much the hat stretched if he sweated in it! Very disappointing
