The info in this video is dated... #1 Starlink no longer throttles #2 even though the dish will try to point to the north it is not necessary you can point it "straight up" etc, it will get service, they have so many sat's up now, many being the version 2 mini's speeds are much better and down time is way less. The info LIz gives in the video was correct for her at the time she made the video, but due to the constant improvement of the Starlink constellation, her info is out of date today (Oct '23)

This cell dead zone is unique American issue where telecom are all operated by private business for profit. I travel to Asia a lot and there is no dead cell zone in most countries there. The gov operate telecom so that it can absorb some loss in low density areas.

Tmobile option would be great IF they didn't have so few places you can get it! I can't get it at my current home in Michigan, not at my brother in laws home in Michigan, my MiL's home in Florida, my friends house in Houston, or my other friends house in Norfolk Va. Bummer really since I LOVE TMobile and have been with them for almost 12 years now! I guess I'll be going to TravlFi to see how that works out, especially since you can use it with a cell booster, and if you have the distance, you can use it in motion (router in RV, user in tow vehicle) so my wife will be able to use it while I'm driving.

I do hope, sincerely, that Tmobile Home becomes more available. I even checked the Verizon version.. same issues.

Yup I changed to Tello cuz straight talk was getting too expensive. Went from $39 a month to under $11 and I think it’s better service.

We are on our 18th year of full timers. Star Link is great and we have tried them all. As of this time the Star Link covers the complete US. They have done a great job of supplying a constant source internet to travelers. Finally we don't have to setup wifi in every park. Or over pay for cell service which is spotty at times. Because we still work from our RV we need a dependable service.

No, you can't just walk into a tmobileqnd get the 50 a month internet deal. That service is held back for people already in the tmobile cell plans. So, if your a tmobile customer paying 80 bucks a month for cell service, then your eligible for the $50 home internet plan. With my limited math skills that equals at least 120 a month.

Hi Liz, I was wondering if you have seen a difference in your mint mobile service? T-mobile entered into an agreement to purchase them in March and are supposed to "Turbo Charge" their service. Have you seen an increase in reliability and speeds?

20 minute bootup? Mine boots in less than 2 minutes. While yes, it needs a north facing sky coverage, a lot of the other info is no longer correct. Starlink is still a developing technology and it's still in the process of implementation (i.e. launching more and more satellites every week almost.)

Well, I need to eat crow. I used homefi with no issues for about 8 months. Then one day the unit wouldn't turn on. I could tell it was some kind of hardware issue. I got on support, after 3 days of trying to get them to send me a new unit, that I was willing to pay for, I gave up and canceled the service. I can't go a week without internet because I use this for work. I sent the device back, now I just got charged another $20 because they said the device was broken. I did not break this thing, it died on its own. So, end result, I can't recommend this company. I would stay away from homefi. Absolutely terrible customer support.

The one downside to services like T Mobile's is that they're cell based. My application requires something that operates when the grid is down. If the local T Mobile towers are out of power, too, there goes the internet.

I installed TMHI in my home back in January (2023). I live just enough out in the country so my only previous option was DSL @ 1.0mbps DL speed on a good day! I setup the TMHI gateway on a shelf next to an upstairs south facing bedroom and got 200-400mbps DL speeds...AWESOME! Unlimited data, price locked at $30/mth!
One correction to the video is that I have yet to see it, but TMHI is de-prioritized based on cell tower traffic, so many urban users complain that they get throttled badly at certain times.

Lol The internet has been my biggest challenge we tookk 1 trip and it was to Davis mountain State Park and no signal at all so thanks for the tips, it is appreciated.

Starlink also has one that is Business/Maritime that prioratizes using it during travel AND IT GIVES YOU DATA PRECEDENCE (which would deal with that throttling thing) that is 2500 for the equipment one time fee and 250 a month. As off Sept 2023 anyway. I went with TravlFi modem... so far has been good.... it takes strogest of top three carrier signals from the nearest tower and you can get boosters through them too.... I paid 350 for the equipment 120 a month for UNLIMITED DATA no throttling

Hello. You are so close to 100 subscribers!! Good for you. I have T-Mobile home internet... for just over a year and I too would use it in my truck for wifi while traveling (as I have Cricket 5 gb month). But in the last month or so it has become. very slow - even with a 'very good' signal. I reset the box to see if that would help..not sure it has. Watched this video for info on Starlink.. I had heard it took a while to get signal.. someone else said 30 minutes. That would be annoying. I have considered switching to Mint as well. Will have to consider that a bit more. Thank you. Safe Travels.

I was 10 years with Century Link and boy are they crapola. I had landline with DSL phone line service and thought that was the only service I could get for my location and then CL service stopped and they said that it would take a tech almost 2 weeks to come out. I cancelled CL and went with T-Mobile and it was the best decision ever made. I get faster speeds and no disconnects!!!! Just to let you know that in their terms it states that you have to use one service address and you may be terminated if you use alternate locations.

With the T-Mobile, going mobile with it is a violation of their currently posted (as of 9/6/23) terms of service on the website. They are still stating that it is only for use at the approved address. When you signed up, did they give you terms of service that didn't say that?

I traveled for 6 months all around US, and internet is definitely a challenge. And it was a travel trailer, not a van in the middle of the mountain. From RV park to RV park. For some reason, still in 2021 (when we traveled) 9 out of 10 rv parks internet connection are incredible BAD. I still dont understand how or why RV parks dont install a decent internet connection. Just charge for it. With a limit in speed per client. and 3 or 4 APs. Not need to cover the whole thing, you can just have a decen internet near the public areas and ppl could go there to work, or check email. But no. most of the RV parks we went they dont have a decent internet, not even the ones they had a paid service.

In another hand we had the weboost (cellular booster) with no luck at all. If the booster is legal, like weboost brand is. they CANT retransmit the signal with much power, so your phone need to be literally touching the internal antenna. You NEED to have signal outside the rig. So, if you have NO signal on your phone while standing outside your rv, you wont have it with the booster either. You can put it on stick, and everything, but you need to have one bar on your phone so the booster will work.

The moment we had signal the booster didn't make any difference. Those places had one cellphone company antenna for entire cities. So, I had 3 bars, but i barely could send a Whatsapp message. Forget about browsing the internet.

We are doing a van conversion now. I sold my booster, it make no sense. If you are in a remote location with minimal signal. is highly probable, that there is only 1 company antenna, and overcrowded with clients.

The real thing in this video is that if you DEPEND on internet, you must have more than 1 source.

Starlink with a 3d printed flat base one the only thing working for us in our van. Fixed to the roof make the set up already done. The downside is that you can't park under heavy woods, or wont have signal (or solar energy anyway).

It does not take 20 minutes for Starlink to boot up, mine is up and going within 3 to 5 minutes of plugging it in. The throttling you speak of isnt true. They dont throttle users, its simply a high demand time of day when most users are online. This issue is getting better all the time as new (and faster) satellites are coming online. You should have used a flag pole mount on your ladder, it would keep you from having to crawl on your roof. You cant blame that on Starlink, just your own lack of research in mounting options.
