Full time software developer here: lol
ОтветитьHi Colin
ОтветитьHey, I’m an engineering student—let me know if you need any help!
Ответитьa coder and claisthenics athlete! my dream lol
Ответитьconflicted about a.i.—not for the obvious benefits but for the less obvious costs and impacts—but always glad to see you taking on new challenges, growing yourself and sharing with the rest of us.
ОтветитьCool
ОтветитьGreat to have you back on yt
ОтветитьThanks Colin for inspiring me be it fitness or life🏋🏻♂️❤
ОтветитьNever did I imagine Ginger Marcus Aurelius would be a coder😏😏
ОтветитьVibe Coding is cringe term, made by those who can't code just to call themselves coders
ОтветитьWake up babe new colin vid dropped
ОтветитьTry fireStudio by google
Ответитьas a software engineer i'm gonna ask you: are you really sure you want to create a mobile app? that means more maintainance over time, more compatibility issues. If a client has android he can't uses it if your app breaks on android but not on iphone. And vice versa. With a website everything is in a single place, single database, you can use it from everywhere and even desktop people will use it. I know a mobile app is way cooler, it also really depends on what you wanna do with that app, how you will use it and so on. But if it's a pretty basic app with some custom features you want to develop i honestly would not discard the website idea.
ОтветитьAs a developer, "vibe coding" should be avoided by everyone (not the same as using AI as a resource). Let's translate it to calesthenics or any sport: imagine having a machine attached to you that moves every muscle needed. Would you get some benefits to your body? Of course, but not even near to the results of learning to do it yourself. Viewed from the outside, it's something pretty sad: you're denying yourself of learning the skills and also killing any potential. Coding, art, sports, any activity can be used in this comparison.
On the other hand, learning to code is easier than ever: using AI to ask for detailed explanations or give you filtered resources is superuseful, it's like having a personal trainer/professor next to you. You will have more fun (and also the same frustation) if you just LEARN how to do what you want.
Nice vid Colin. Continue, so you can get your app. Checked out your website though. Good job :D 💪🏽
ОтветитьThis is great man! Its good that you're getting your hands dirty like this. Quick suggestion, for a mobile app give Flutter a go. Cant wait to see what you come up with! Just wanna say you're a great inspiration for me in keeping consistent with calisthenics and working out in general and i just wanted to say thanks for the positive effect you've had on me
Ответитьlol I love this
ОтветитьHello there! First off, great video! Watching it, it looks like your project is using TSX files, which leads me to assume you're using React. On that note, there's a specific version of React called React Native that lets you build applications for both Android and iOS without the porting being overly complicated. Hope it helps!!
ОтветитьIt is very cool seeing people building stuff. While checking your project you have built, I see a lot of things which are very non-performant and also insecure. For example I was able to easily find the swagger definition for all the RESP API endpoints and also that you use PostgREST in the backend. Overall a lot of debug information and logs which give a lot of insights to a potential attacker. I did not dig in any deeper, but I think that someone with bad intentions and the skills could easily exploit this app in the current state.
As a professional software developer I'm kinda relieved to see that even with such tools you still need some knowledge to leverage them well. This is not meant as an offense. In the end you built something cool. Also I agree with other comments about native mobile apps. Even if you choose a cross platform framework like react native, it is a pain in the ass. Mobile App development is literally the most non enjoyable space in software engineering in my opinion.
vibe coding doesn't work lol. i know how to code and i know chatgpt spits out hot garbage at the best of times
ОтветитьXcode 26 (in beta right now) pretty much has cursor built in if you wanna play around with that.
ОтветитьWow Colin! You inspired me to code again.
ОтветитьThat's so cool man, can't wait to see what you bake
ОтветитьDude, this app is sick, I love the solo leveling vibe
ОтветитьCool, bro!
Even though I'm a developer, your video is really inspiring! Congrats, bro!
I'm sorry, but you didn't even think for once on hiring a freelancer? You probably spent a good money on AI shit, including your own free time, and considering that you were trying to make something that you know absolutely nothing about, it makes sense to do it the good ol' way and just ask other humans to do it for money.
ОтветитьGood to see ur still around brother hope ur having a fantastic time out there and hope to see ur next video in the future and more workout tips
ОтветитьBoy… if you dont just get on OF and call it a day. 🙄🙄🙄
ОтветитьBaby that white chest is giving Casper the friendly ghost. 😂😂
ОтветитьI’m an iOS Developer and an iOS Development Tutor. I’ll say this, you can definitely learn how to make mobile apps but it’s going to be more involved than you think, including with AI. However, if you take the time you can actually do it.
ОтветитьIf you enjoyed putting in all that effort fighting the AI then I think you would enjoy actually learning to code lol
ОтветитьWell well well. Look who’s back out of the blue after reinventing himself… 🌝
Ответитьlove to see your channel expanding bro
Ответитьfinally, someone who hates MFP as much as me
Ответитьv0 is goated
Ответитьoh, so THATS what vibecoding is ......lmao
ОтветитьThis is looking too risky. Make sure you do not store any personalized user data, as the security of “vibe-coded” projects is very weak.
Starting from basic DDoS attacks that could easily max out all your quotas—potentially leaving you with a hefty bill at the end of the month—to missing basic security rules that could leak your entire database.
The worst part is that if something goes wrong, you won’t know what to do or where to look because you’re not familiar with the codebase.
I'll support that as a personal project. It's looking really great, but not as a product that other people can rely on. For that, you may want to hire a professional/freelancer. But as a proof of concept, why not.
Make it for the web first, bro - create a website, then use it as a base to quickly build Android and iOS apps with an embedded web browser, using cross-platform tools like Flutter, React Native, Delphi, Qt or any other (one code for Android\iOS). You'll save a lot of time. Trust a full-stack developer with many years of experience.
ОтветитьAs an dev, I was curious to see if this is able to motivate you to learn coding skills at least to some extends ? Btw, you can turn this web app into a store app using Ionic, you don't have to rewrite with Xcode.
Ответитьdamn, your app is so f'ing cool man!
ОтветитьNo way man, you can't even trust Ai to give you a feasible recipe for how to make a chicken pie. It doesn't logically think through things like they make you believe, it just spits out the most likely output based on the prompt and its own output. People trusting it this much is a huge disaster waiting to happen.
Ответитьi'll help you
Ответитьyo if you're scrolling and feel off, read this. i was burnt out, low energy, not myself. found Testosterone Rewired by David Brooks, had zero expectations but man... chapter by chapter it rebuilt me. not hype, not fake motivation — just stuff that grounds you and resets your system. this might be your turning point.
ОтветитьDid you delete your kickboxing video? I remember you made a vid like that some time ago but I can't find it
Ответитьjust signed up. make the app fast
ОтветитьLots of people in the comments don't like vibe coding. I've been coding for about a decade and I've never been more productive than in the past few months with vibe coding. I'm a mechanical engineer not a computer scientist so most of my software is pretty basic. But for the basic stuff I've found vibe coding to be fantastic. Sure if you want to built complex backends you might want to learn to code but if you just want to make a basic app and you can describe it without a whiteboard it can be vibe coded.
I do think you should at least have a general understanding of how to read code though and understand what chatgpt is spewing out. Simple things like function instantiation, operators, loops, etc. I'd say learn a beginner friendly language language like Python first just to get the basics down but beyond that vibe code all the way.
Seems like everyone I knew is getting into vibe coding lol
