Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless Review | vs. Sony XM5

The Sony XM5’s are so poorly made sadly. Amazing sound quality and all, but mine broke in a month due to the pad and band is cheap plastic. So it came dislodged due to it being so cheap and they won’t fix or replace them, Sony doesn’t deserve the praise.

How are these when it comes to fit? I have a small head and I don't want them to fall off every time I move

I read around about an imbalance problem on the Momentum 4 between the right and left drivers. Can anyone tell me if this is true and if it has been fixed?

I bought the new Beats Studio pro and a month later they stated having crazy issues returned them and picked up momentum 4 and so far love them

The aeroplane adaptors are not "increasingly becoming irrelevant", least not until airlines introduce Bluetooth. Let's be real here, how would you connect to the entertainment system otherwise?

I bought my Momentum 4 because I wanted to try out a high quality brand but I thought that at somepoint i was going to return them since they still cost 250€ but having used them for a while made me change that thought.

It may have a great sound but cannot enjoy that sound if there are connection issues and annoying white noise according to Reddit...

A big no from me. I sent them back to Amazon the next day. The connectivity was tenuous at best. They sounded good to me, but not incredible. Not loud enough to suit my ears.

I'll give it a try after my B&W px has broken.
Good balanced sound quality is important than anything as I mostly use the headphones on work and I mostly working on quiet place so great ANC is a plus not my main feature.
Also someone told it can work on USB-C connection to receive calls on laptop which is a BIIIIIIIG plus for me.
Let's try and see!

The fabric comes out after 5-6 months and that’s disappointing. I checked different forums and seems this is a common issue. Don’t buy the momentum 4.

I’m a person who likes more bass but with overall sound quality in headphones. My question that own this headphone… How good is the bass quality? Hopefully, someone can give their opinion on bass quality between Momentum 4 vs XM5….

Would never get another Sennheiser product again since the momentum true wireless 3 quality control was so bad.

Im sticking with my old XM4 for now.
But considering Yamaha and Sennheiser for my next headphones.

Good to know that for quality sennheiser is the brand to get and sony for the rest.

Have always preferred the Sennheiser sound but the ear cups on the lower end 350 / 450 BT are just too small . Can’t wear them for anymore than a couple of hours before serious ear fatigue. Anyone know if the momentum 4 have bigger ear cups ???

I was trying to decide between the M4 and XM5 and went with the Sony’s after hearing about a lot of connectivity issues and weird bugs with the M4s. I really wanted the M4s but I can’t stand buggy, inconsistent software. Anyone have these that can comment on this? Thanks

When important thing you never talk about is, how the apps work. I’m extremely frustrated with Sonny for having an iOS app and two Bluetooth sources that can be hooked up, this basically means one of my two devices Hass to be either my iPad or my iPhone. But I want to use my steam deck and my Sony TV, or my gaming, PC and my steam deck, but this is impossible because of the stupid iOS app. What we want is a switch on the Headphones that lets us connect to a different, audio source, which Bose had back when they were king.

Do you still like the momentum 4 better than the xm5 in 2023

Tough decision for me I love listening to my music at its highest possible quality sound and I love my big bass but I also use headphones for business calls and would like not to feel like the other person question where I'm calling them from and why I didn't pick a quieter place for a business call. After weighing both options a few weeks ago I went with the Sennheiser Momentum 4's .. best decision ever the noise canceling is good enough in my opinion as long as your not in a super loud area most of the time the the other person can hear you clearly . Get these headphones if you love superior sound they are truly incredible headphones

I was suffering at the store today because Sennheiser doesn’t have show item for proof only Sony. Then I was amazed with its ACN. I really thought I would go for Sony because I couldn’t sound proof the Sennheiser but I had an spark of faith because I used to have one cheap model when I was at high school and they sound so good.
The seller said that they both worked on Apple fine (because I said I want to use them properly with my iPhone and laptop Mac and windows). He suggested I could go for air pro max but I was stucked in my teens with that gorgeous sound with my discman…

I went for Sennheisser’s. It’s ANC is not that good indeed, quite meh imo (I have an old pair of beats for comparing) but heeeeey ❤ the orchestra! The metal and symphonic metal Therion’s make! 😭💕

I got my xm5 just today. The only reason i bought it, because it's cost less $56 than momentum 4. Yes, it's irony when the momentum 4 should be $50 cheaper than xm5, but after 1 year, sony made it cheaper than momentum 4, while the momentum 4 still hold the same price 😵

The whole point of over ear headphones is sound so Sennheiser is what I'm going with.

I've been rocking the HD 450BT's for the past three years, but I feel it's time I upgraded my cans to something with a little more depth. I've read reviews on the Sony XMs but they seem very bassy, which is not what I'm listening for when it comes to sound. I'm sure Sennheiser won't disappoint, just like they haven't with my 450.

I want to thank you for the time you spent comparing these products. Excellent detail. I returned the Sony XM4's and picked up the Momentum 4 for actually a little less cost. The momentum got it right. Excellent audio fidelity! Excellent comfort. Everything you said about them was accurate.

Also, I normally don't use over the ear headphones for phone calls. None of them have ever worked well for the other person. Well, they were already connected when a relative called so I thought, "what the heck, let's try it." I put them on and she said the audio at her end was crystal clear. We talked for an hour and it was wonderful. These are a winner!!

Cups are small and connection can be funky. But Sony still has way better ANC. Depends what matters most to you. Wireless are still not anyewhere near great wired but it will probably happen at some point

Doesn't the lack of LDAC affect the audio quality on the sens, I would feel funny not having ldac

Taking Sennheiser's word on the battery life is not good enough. You are a reviewer, do your job and test the claims.

In India the price is same for the Black colour for the white clour though the momentum are more expensive
