Vepambu Rasam is a very different kind of rasam made with dried neem flower. It is slightly bitter in taste, however is good for digestion & cleansing the body.

Serves 2
2 cups of tamarind water
1 tsp haldi
1 tsp asafoetida
5-10 curry leaves
Salt as per taste
1 tbsp Vepambu (dried neem powder)
2 red chillies
3 Tbsp ghee
Heat a kadai, add the tamarind water, along with haldi, asafoetida, curry leaves, salt. Let it boil. It will thicken slightly. After it brings a boil twice, turn off the gas. Heat another kadai, add the ghee, 2 red chillies & the Vepambu powder, Let it become nice and black. Temper it over the rasam. You can relish this with rice and some potato sabzi on the side 😀
