It’s amazing when you don’t have any pronouns, unions or OSHA interference what a few low wage workers will accomplish for a few grains of rice will do

There is no relationship between the pipe at the start and the forged billet. Where did the billet come sfrom?

I’m impressed with their manufacturing skills. No drawings or blueprints to build from and all done with steel straight edges and a bubble level.

Can you even imagine the heat, I have worked some pretty hot jobs like roofing and a licorice extraction factory. We had 90 lb. steam lines cooking 10 ft. high extractor with 1800 lbs. of root inside. The lid was 4 feet across with 12- 1 3/4 inch bolts holding down the lid. There were like 34- extractors in one giant room. You could fry an egg on the lid. Seen a few men drop like flies in my time. CAMDEN NJ- Close to where the USS New Jersey was built. So my hats off to these men, you are unique.

This is no repair shop, they're manufacturing crankshafts for some local manufacturer. There are multiple blanks being forged, also several in the machine shop. This is like a horror movie for mechanics. Thankfully, I'm no mechanic.
Moral of this story, boys and girls, is that when you need an ammonia compressor, buy American of German.

And YES , India and Pakistan have a horrendous Industrial accident rate ! For example here , the foot of so of swarf and other trip hazards covering the floor surrounding the lathes and the spinning counterweight on the crankshaft lathe or as we call it in the trade "the disemboweller "
The high rate of injuries in the manufacturing sector could be attributed to two prime factors apart from the appalling workshop practises and total lack of ANY safety disciplines at all !
First, the overall economic scenario favored an upsurge in business activities and hence resulted in more injuries.
Second, an increase in unemployment would reduce the bargaining power of workers and unions enforcing them to work in the manufacturing sector at low wages. Hence, the dearth of occupational diversity due to lower employment prospects is prominent in the context of Pakistan.

The recent estimates revealed that 2.7 million of the employed population (61.7 million) experienced an injury at work in 2017-18 with a 3.7% of injury rate.
Plus the average hourly rate for a lathe operator as in this video in Pakistan is $1.10 USD per hour ! In the US or any other Western country that crankshaft would cost new I would say $20-30,000 . I bet the owner of this workshop did not charge the customer a couple of hundred dollars for this item . He can well afford to improve the conditions and safety of his workers but why should he when he has an endless supply of cheap labour .
