I took my written and skills state test on Monday and I PASSED on my first try!!!!! Thank you so much Mrs. Patty. I was extremely nervous but I prayed before I started and I had a GREAT proctor!

Not wearing gloves

Please tell me why gloves are not used for this skill.

Can I ask why gloves were not used, when there could potentially be body fluids on the sheets ?

If its soiled or in case it was, you shld have been wearing gloves. Bed also shld have been raised to show proper body mechanics.

COuld anyone help me with a question : How do we change gloves? 2 times, each time we touch the clean sheets? she doesn't mention that or wear any. I'm sure I'll fail the exam if I don't do it correctly. Thank you!

Few things missing from this video. Where’s the gloves? I see the rules at the top, and I guess it’s common sense but I’m more of a step by step visual learner, and I didn’t see you put them on or mention (or signaling) that you put them on..

Raising the bed? I knew at what point I should raise it though, right before I start the procedure.

I just wanted to say thank you to nurse patti, I was binge watching these for 3 days after failing my first clinical and I was determined to pass my second time and as of right now I’m officially a CNA in the state of Texas thank you again nurse Patti for your very educational videos it helped me and others so much 🩷

If you aren't using gloves for this skill then you would need to hand hygiene after touching dirty linen and before touching clean linen or it's an immediate fail in my state.

You should be wearing gloves when dealing with visibly soiled sheets and linens. Do not let the linens touch your body or outfit or they are contaminated.

Taking my exam this Thursday, this video is very helpful

No gloves, no explanation about contamination while rolling, no side rails when rolling, no bed pad. 😊

2 things missing: rising the bed at waist level before starting to prevent injury to back, and lowering the bed for safety (prevent falls) at the end

hi i haver my exam wed, no gloves for this skill?

So this is wild, ive seen it both ways. Why no blanket? Clinical skills are all centered around resident care not patient care and even in hospital setting the only time I saw patients with just a top sheet was in the ICU. But we also had a blanket warmer that I was reloading everynight 😂 these skills dont translate to real life. I understand that its to pass your exam so no hate on the material but is there an actual reason here?

I watched these videos in my CNA class. I took my state tests yesterday, and passed! These videos were key in helping me study for my skills portion. I’d recommend to anybody. I’m finally certified. Next step, nursing.🩺

Hi Mr. Jones, my name is ___, I’m your CNA today. How are you? Good. I need to change your sheets, is that okay? First I’m going to check that your bed is locked, low, body is aligned, and that you have your call light in reach.

I’m going to close the curtains, wash my hands, and gather my supplies, and I will be right back.

I’m going to place a barrier on the table. And put my supplies on top (top sheet, bottom sheet, one pillow case, and one privacy blanket).

Okay, Mr. Jones I’m going to place the blanket over you to protect your privacy and keep you warm. Can you hold your blanket in place while I pull down your sheets? Placing dirty sheets in dirty linen.

Mr. Jones can you please scoot towards me? And can you roll so that you’re on your side facing that direction. Thank you.

I’ll remove the two corners from the side of the bed. And I’m going to roll the soiled sheet in towards the patient. Then I’m going to tuck it up deep underneath the patient all along his body.

Now, I’ll unfold the clean sheet. Spread it out the mattress and attach the corners. Now I’ll roll the clean sheet towards me, tight with no wrinkles. As I tuck it under the soiled sheet.
Okay, Mr. Jones you can lay on your back now and please scoot to the center of the bed. I’m going to walk over to the other side. Can you scoot towards me? And can you roll so that you’re on your side and facing away from me. Thank you.

I’m going to remove the sheets from the bed, wrapping it into a ball and place it into dirty linen.

Now I’ll unroll the clean sheet and secure the corners into the mattress.

Okay Mr. Jones can you lay flat on your back please and scoot to the middle. Now I’m placing the top sheet over you and please hold the top as I remove the privacy blanket. I’ll roll it in a ball and place it in dirty linen.

Now I’m going to secure the sheet by lifting the mattress and smooth the sheet down. Hospital corners. And I’ll loosen the linen under his toes so he has some wiggle room.
How does that feel Mr. Jones?

I’m going to remove the pillow from under your head to change the sheet. Please lift your head for me. I’ll remove the pillow case and place the pillow on the table and place the case in dirty linen. I’ll take the clean pillow case and put it on the pillow. Making sure this process doesn’t touch my uniform.

Then I’ll put the pillow under this head making sure the open side faces away from the door.
Are you comfortable Mr. Jones? Can I get you anything else today?

Alright, here’s your call light. I’ll make sure your bed is locked, low, and your body is aligned. Did you want your curtain open or close? Okay, I’ll open your curtain and wash my hands. Throw away the barrier.
