185+K to live in a portable chicken coop. Sheeesh!!!
ОтветитьIt's a hot water heater
ОтветитьBro.... you should have bought a mid 2000s class A....this is ridiculous 😂
ОтветитьIt cost me $6700 to replace a roof on my 1300 sq ft. house last year ... just saying.
ОтветитьThank you so much for your honesty!! You are saving people much heartache!.
Thank God you have been able to do many repairs yourself! It would have cost a fortune!
I simply can’t believe the amount of work YOU have had do in two yrs. Minus the tile.
You are one handy guy! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks for this information, because of this video I've decided to spend the winter months from now on in Thailand instead of buying an RV that I WAS researching. We are leaving Nov. 30th and because I've done it 5 times previously since 2017, twice for 5 months each I know I can travel with my Thai wife around Thailand and Vietnam for under $7K and thats with Canadian money. Travel Safe and Be well.
ОтветитьIt sounds like to me that you bought an rv that had been road hard and put away wet, more than once.
ОтветитьI thought of purchasing an RV and due to the expected maintenance costs I've decided not to buy an RV...IMy intention is to now rent for 2 weeks at a time saving myself some money.
ОтветитьWow ! Whole new insight
ОтветитьRV's are not designed for full-time. You can change your oil and filters unless you're stupid. Never get service at a dealer
ОтветитьKevin, $331.14 is pretty inexpensive for two batteries. I just paid $220 for one AGM battery for my (gas) Super Duty.
ОтветитьDarn you're a prisoner to that RV. Huge expenses and you did a lot of the labor and knowhow on your own. Probably double the cost if not mechanically talented like you are. OMG!
ОтветитьGreat Great video 👍👍
ОтветитьNever a dull moment, there is always another project for the depreciating highway yacht..
ОтветитьThanks for the info. You’ve helped me avoid making a costly mistake.
ОтветитьMade in China. At least part of it. Nothing is quality not even BMWs new cars. It’s a joke.
ОтветитьThank you for sharing this!
Best video yet
Goodness talk about expensive. Looks like the good life, wonderful, traveling in comfort, living like freedom. But my goodness the cost is so extravagant. Seems like they are built to look good, but not really to last. I have so much research to do. I don't desire to be discouraged.
ОтветитьWhy would anyone live this life is beyond me.
ОтветитьGreat video! Definitely feels like there needed to be two categories though, something like "required costs/maintenance" and "highly recommended upgrades/extras"
ОтветитьI think it would be a great idea to let people know just how much time you've spent on all the upgrades and repairs on your home on wheels. Money is one thing and time is another. Especially since this life style is supposed to free you up and give you tons of fun and adventure. The time thing is especially important to older campers. Enjoyed the video and it was very informative. Love your style.
ОтветитьOMG! No RV for me!
ОтветитьWhat spooks me the most about these large RVs is the potential for water intrusion. Too many makes seem not to be well-made and seem to always have water intrusion issues.
ОтветитьThe most important message from this video for new RV owners is that you will pay much more if you are not mechanically inclined. If you can’t DIY repairs and maintenance like this young man, you will really be in for a big cost surprise.
ОтветитьI lived in suv and 2 hotels week for 10 yrs, bought 18ft motor home sold in 1 month. Too much stress with repairs. Then bought 20 ft trailer regretted it in 1st day because realized it had leaks. Spent alot hrs trying to figure out where leaking from. Other thing breaking every 3 days inside the trailer. I still have never used the water in my rv or bathroom because thats leaking too. I've been living in it 6 months. I miss my tent
ОтветитьAppreciate the information but I’m confused. You mentioned you were full time Rv’rs. But when you mentioned oil change intervals and going through the mountains vs being at home. Isn’t your home your Rv?
Also how much extra do they charge you to rotate your tires while getting your oil changed?
✌🏽
Excellent video! I have wanted to live full time in an RV, now that my husband and I are retired. We are both 72 on our fixed incomes. You have just TALKED ME OUT OF MY VISION FOR OUR RETIREMENT. We will spend our time flying to certain destinations, and paying for hotel rooms, and couple resorts, all inclusive resorts and have lots more fun! This video, literally exhausted me! It was excellent however. I am so grateful I watched this. PHEW!
ОтветитьJust think if you owned a house and the maintenance on that and property taxes. Grand design should fix some of that lol. But they probably won’t cause they are now relying on their name recognition. We need more consumer oversight to effect these manufacturers for not standing behind what they make and sell.
ОтветитьWhat a crappy overpriced product! Goes to show, americans can’t make a quality product! Too bad Toyota does not make them!
ОтветитьWhen I decided to go full-time, I bought a used truck that did not require DEF and bought one of the best fifth wheels on the market -- New Horizons Majestic. Although I had to do maintenance, I never had the problems you had. Maybe I just got lucky, but I had my fifth wheel for 8 years until I sold it and bought another New Horizons. They may be expensive, but they are nice.
ОтветитьWe purchased a mid range fifth wheel, a Jayco Eagle…to travel to different places and take our dogs with us…We consider it a portable hotel room. We couldn’t justify buying a 100,000 plus RV for the amount of use it would get. But it’s nice to be able to travel with our dogs here and there without breaking the bank. At the most we may travel across country..but would never consider going full time
ОтветитьHey, we’re new to the rv journey and are trying to determine the differences between 1 ton Ford, Chevy, Ram. Could you do a video explaining the differences and give your opinion on which you would recommend today?
ОтветитьYou are a superior fixit man!!
ОтветитьI run a ram Cummins and never had any of those issues... yes oil change yes tires .. ps you can rotate the duals uf u dont have custom wheels.. my steel wheels rotate religiously and i got 65k on goodyear kevlars and they still got 20k left
ОтветитьHave you noticed any frame flex? Just curious. I look any fifth wheel trailer if I’m able to just to see what the majority of them are doing.
Ответитьi know a class A has crossed your mind 4 sure
cuz commin from what u have
to a 2005 tiffin phaeton diesel pusher is like night and day
problems are almost non existant
You should’ve bought a used Bluebird or Prevost. All those rv’s with fiberglass “bonded” exterior panels are nothing but junk. Something your finding out the hard way. Sorry for your troubles. Sell that cheaply built turd, and get the above!
ОтветитьYou should also add in the labor cost you would have spent having someone else do these items. At least figure an hourly rate multiplied by the time it took you for a real total cost. It is great you are able to do them yourself but others might not and would be interesting to see the amount of time it took and cost savings
ОтветитьSin wagon
ОтветитьWe’ve had a Chevy 3500HD and 37’ Montana High Country 323RL for 5 years and have had NO major expenses or repairs. Almost everything that has gone wrong I’ve repaired myself. We’ve towed it all over the USA AND it’s been a great experience. Other than normal wear items like tires, batteries and oil changes, the truck has been cheap to run and reliable. We’ve never once regretted purchasing our Rig. It’s been a home away from home in AZ for several months at a time in the winter and a vacation home in the summer. For us it’s $ well spent!
ОтветитьWow I love how you edited your videos. I like to see creativity as well as a detailed explanation. All the different costs could you break it down to what you paid and what you had to pay others. You seem pretty handy could you do your own oil changes.
ОтветитьYou got a great voice would you well on the radio or voice overs
ОтветитьI worked as a service tech at GD for 7 years and you should’ve sent it to the customer service shop. You would’ve saved a ton of money and they would’ve put you up in a hotel while repairs were made. Granted they wouldn’t have covered your washes and waxes and a custom roof but you would’ve got a new roof new underbelly and everything else including bearings breaks and they would’ve thrown in new rims and tires and probably many more things. I know you live in Texas but hey, RV’s are portable. Don’t work there anymore but the same people are still there and they’ve got a great big new shop in Elkhart. They’ll take care of you. I have no doubt about it. Don’t tell them Leroy sent you though. That’s not my real name.
ОтветитьFuel filters every other oil change? Completely unnecessary. Can't change your own oil?
ОтветитьI see the value of your video. I agree RVing is not free or cheaper way of life. Well..considering today when an apartment rent is $1800.00 a month average or a mortgage that is $2500- $5000.00 a month. It's not cheap to live. Although Home ownership is an asset. It's not cheap either. I hear "THE DEALERSHIP" waaaaay too many times during your video. You better learn how to repair and maintain your rig on your own, warranties or not. Warranties are just money in dealership pockets. I own a 2003 40' diesel pusher. I fix everything that goes wrong with it, but there is an issue with the freightliner chassis which has nothing to do with the RV. these chassis are on semi- trucks and school busses. I'm surprised my issue is with the chassis manufacturer. that will have to be fixed by freightliner unless I can locate a freelance mechanic. It's a laptop issue with software for the gauges.
ОтветитьI've been there and done that with a tow behind. Used. If I were a serious RVer and going to spend that kind of money on an RV, it would be a drivable RV, not a tow-behind.
ОтветитьWorse expense than a boat, those big pick ups are nothing but trouble
ОтветитьRVs really are not designed for full-time living. That's your first mistake.
ОтветитьSome click bait.
