The Formal English language sounds very different from the informal English and part of it can be explained due to the amount of synonymous in the language. They are uncountable. The language works that way because it was exponentially influenced by several languages over the time like Latin, french, German and the language of the Saxon people.

In my opinion, slang and informal language is rather irksome.
Especially contractions.
I am perfectly fine with acronyms, though.
