It was 1969 because I thought the riots were occurring on Watts Hill near my house and packed my stuffed animals but it was in Chicago... but I was only 10 years old

I just tuned into your you tube channel after buying your lovely set of cards. We have so much in common...My dad joined the service when he was 17. I remember dad telling us about it. He tried to join another branch, Can't remember which one but he was turned down because of his age. He had his head down when he came out of the door and as he was walking he heard a man say to him, Son why are you so sad? Dad told him the reason and the man said to him...Come with me and I'll sign you up right now in the US Army. Dad was overjoyed ..My dad being in the Army my life sounds a lot like yours. I was born in France,LaRochelle. Next we were stationed in Japan where my other sister was born. Then on to Monterey Ca. where my youngest sister was born.We traveled the world and changed schools all of the time..

You have clarified so much for me. You often seem British in the nicest ways but you sound mostly American with a hint of something else. What a lovely mix ! So enjoy your videos and your gentle kindness. You remind me of my best friend in eighth grade. Her grandmom was British and she had sweet politeness, too. God bless you, lots. Looking forward to the next installment.

What a wonderful gift you are giving all of us, Margaret. I feel so much admiration for you in telling your story. I doubt if very many women can do the same - where does this fear of being judged come from? You bring a lovely feeling of understanding, and being understood and that is probably the key to a peaceful happiness. Thank you.

Margaret, just discovered you and can't tell you how much I needed to have someone like you in my life. I understand it's probably too late to sign on for the Portugal trip but will try to find the video where you introduce it. There is something very special about you, bless you for being our rock. Thank you! You are amazing in how through adversities that you have such a gentle heart and good attitude. You seem to know who you are and what you want. I’m 75 and I feel the same way. I think the way we grow up and our childhood shapes us into what we become later on. Even though some times are hard it’s a good feeling to have kept on the path forward and end up knowing what we want and what we like. It makes our later years in life actually a pleasure because we value and appreciate each day that comes our way. Thank you again for sharing and may God be with you.🙏❤️🦋

I guessed you'd spent time in Canada, and your story is interesting! My dad served in the Pacific during the war, and met my mother later in San Francisco, where I was born in 1950. My dad, though older than yours, had similar issues and we moved a LOT. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your saga.

Hi Margaret, thank you for your candid testimony of your childhood and early adulthood. I enjoyed listening to it. It was exciting to learn about all the places you've been. Now I understand why you travel so much. At least thats what I think. I have listened to very few of your videos and whatever little I knew made me think you were a born traveler. I like your personality and can't wait to hear the rest of your story. Thank you for sharing.

Goodness. We have another thing in common. My father like yours came through WW2. He was a POW for 5 years, captured at Dunkirk. He never got over it and after my mother died he went into a depression. He remarried and my stepmother took over, i believe his behaviour was due to what he had been through in the War. He was very damaged.
