They had to nerf him so hard with the six paths of pain because he was just way too broken with his mastery of the Rinnegan and his insane chakra reserves. Even in a atrophied state controlling those pain puppets, he single handily destroyed the hidden leaf. If he was healthy enough I think he was very close to alive EMS Madara

I hope pain change his perception for good and for good only.

The funny thing is that we know pains plan will ultimately fail as the same basically happened on Earth twice with then two World Wars. One of the reasons that world war one was dubbed "The war to end all wars" was because people believed that no one would want to suffer the same again. But as we know a second bigger war would be ignited only 20 years later, sooner if you argue that the war started with the Abbysinain crisis or Second Sino-Japanese war

The fact that Nagato still stood and fought after those paper bombs went off how how amped he was; he was running on adrenaline

Nagato was my favorite Akatsuki( and Itachi too <3) and indeed topped my list as one of my favorite Naruto characters. Whatever Nagato said was absolutely true. In our real world, wars are waged so that the great rich countries benefit out of it( the oil- eg Syria etc., selling weapons to boost the war so that they could get richer- ( Weapons beings supplied to-> Ukraine, Afghanistan; forcing their ideology upon smaller nations etc. Wars in Vietnam, Libya. The list is endless. Major countries fighting over resources in poor smaller nations. All this leads to great suffering on the innocent people - like Yahiko, Nagato and Konan). The countries of our world have enough money to wage wars and invest into weapons but not enough to spare for basic necessities like food for the poor. The poor perishes at the expense of the corrupt ideals of those in power. There exists so much hatred in this cursed world. As Nagato said, it's a vicious cycle, hate and wars breeds more hate and wars. The rich, corrupt selfish beings, those in the power understand no pain of the poor. In reality the rich are getting richer the poor are getting poorer. The concept of peace is unreal. It can never be achieved. The race of humans is utterly greedy and selfish. Peace into this world is just a utopian idea. Nagato made me think. I cried for the whole episode when Jiraiya Sensei was killed. But when Nagato died after giving his reasoning, I cried for him too. I don't know but the world leaders should watch Naruto once and rethink the choices with which they choose to govern the world.
