Having worked in China for many years, the CCP is right in that their calculations are flawed. The youth unemployment rate in china is calculated based on whether you can find jobs the first year you graduate. So lets say you find a job the second year after you graduate you are still considered unemployed for the youth data. Also the company you work for must be legally registered for taxes, so if you work for a company that pays cash its also not calculated. Thus the unemployment rate is actually much lower than 21%. However, the quality of jobs in China is indeed of question and salary for the second biggest economy in the world is still very very low.

The Chinese people are nothing but a pump and dump. When you’re no longer useful to the regime you are worthless. 😢 Imagine 1 billion people….

One of the main problems in China is that the level of automation of work is simply much much too high.

Almost everything is automated.

I watched a video of a car factory of a luxury EV brand in China, there were almost no-one in the factory!! It was all automated.

The situation in restaurants are similar. People look at the food menu and order their food on the app. They pay on the app.

So what used to require 2 or 3 people now require only 1 person.

Same with everything else. Jack Ma's supermarkets have no-one in the shop!!

the translation is a little biased. Zhou said the rate of face-to-face interviews rather than responses.

because they want to be CEO and don't want low paying jobs

Sending 100 CV and receiving 25% of replies back (hope it's not all negative) is an excellent ratio.

Why can’t these students move overseas to work? Is it because of lack of English skills?

When your government is too busy implementing imperialistic policies that involves giving soft loans and supporting many shady regimes in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America as well as trying to annex a sovereign country then governing will be an impossible task. It’s also quite concerning that this crisis also complemented with a slowing birth rates and non existent immigration policies that attract high quality foreigners to stay, work and perhaps becoming a naturalized citizen.

There are plenty of jobs, just not the expected ones. Too many college graduates and no relevant jobs for them. Just like every other rich country.

Youth-for-Work should be 20yo to 28yo, 16yo to 20yo should go to school or be an intern when they are 18.
Many people in China do side hustle like bloggers and streamers, at least enough to pay rent, as that can be had for $150/month in China (sharing a 2bd)
