ОтветитьI bought this single pre November 1968 before my family moved to Australia and it certainly wasn't this 'funky' version. It was more Ska/Bluebeat, can anyone help me identify it? Cheers.

ОтветитьBenwell 1982.
ОтветитьI met Eddy a few times back in 79/80, I used to live in Stoke Newington 78 into 81,round the corner from where he had his studio, the Coach House. Friend of mine designed his stage sets and other design work, workaholic was Eddy, very driven, decent bloke. The Equals were superb, bit punky in some ways but madly dancable - if thats even a word. After he moved back to the Carribean, his brothers Alpine and Rudy (The Mexicano) ran the studio - Rudy/Mex was a laugh, nice guy, check out " Move up Starsky". Alpine fancied himself something rotten and kept trying to shag my girlfriend, she told him no, but a bit too polite I thought, so I think Alpine was a bag of shit, still 2 out of 3 aint bad, could be worse, Mum should be proud etc
Ответитьremember working with the drummer he was still sparkin at 70 nice fella
ОтветитьUsed to have the single, doesn't sound the same minus the pops and scratches mine had during the intro... Lol!
Ответитьutter pish, so bad it should have been banned.
ОтветитьEin hit aus der unvergesslichen, wilden Zeit in unserem Partykeller in Wilhelmshaven
ОтветитьI was 12 years old when this top tune was being played at my local youth club just two years after Enoch Powell's 'Rivers Of Blood' speech. Well f** you Enoch. We just got on with each other even though we were too young to know what you were trying to stir up. We got on and lived together, despite you and your generations fears.
ОтветитьIt's cool👍
ОтветитьWorst song I've ever heard.
ОтветитьBuena musica de entonces

ОтветитьBorn in 74'. An MTV kid in the early 80's....we were given "Electric Avenue" by Eddy Grant. A total anthem. No idea of what rasta was. No idea what his background was. Now, approaching 50, I know now how he came into the scene and how amazing his career has been. I feel cheated. In my early 20's I was really into 60's garage rock/mod music.
Like-wise, early Eurthymics (the first album) and their previous band "The Tourists" had escaped me until the last 10 years. Both are great "pre-new wave" listens.
I was brought here via learning the clash covered police on my back and then Learning the specials covered this on their final album
