I'm 17 and I still buy fashion magazines whenever they print my favorite is cosmopolitan
ОтветитьWait I think this is the second time you've referenced Down With Love and I get excited every time, it's so underrated
Ответитьim 25 and grew up a lil around then, i remember when i was like 8/9 i didnt have toys so id cut up models on fashion mags and furniture on argos catalogs and play house 😭😭
ОтветитьI think it might only exist in australia but theres this magazine called "frankie" that has shifted more towards artsy style and often includes posters or even wrapping paper, ti distinguish themselves and make buying physical copies worth while
ОтветитьYou need to drink some water or something? Your mouth sounds very dry, it’s making this gross little smack sound every time you open it and it’s grossing me out in this video. I’m less than a minute in so I’m hoping at some point you get some water or I won’t be able to finish this video lmao
ОтветитьI used to love buying monthly magazines, but now they're $9-12 and have more straight advertisements than they did when they were $3
Ответитьfashion magazines posters cosmopolitan pictures papers
ОтветитьI MiSs FASHION MAGAZINES!!!! When I went to fashion designing school and fashion magazines were very important to me. I kept up with fashion and AWESOME mood boards. Keep up the good work and have a wonderful evening 😀 Robin N.Otis-Clayborne
ОтветитьNiche fashion magazines are still so fun tho, for now at least
ОтветитьMagazines as a whole are dying in America and have been for a long time. What's wild is that, at least as of 2019 when I was still living there, magazines are/there THRIVING in Japan.
ОтветитьMina giving whimsigoth vibes in this vid ❤
Ответитьthis is the thickest i’ve ever seen her eyebrows
ОтветитьFun fact, Down with Love was essentially a remake of Pillow Talk I consider them both classics :') .
ОтветитьAs a French person, it was really fun to listen to
ОтветитьI feel like video essays or video journalism is a new kinda magazine. If that makes sense
ОтветитьI do prefer the physical beauty and fashion ma magazines for the art of it and turning the page, just more fun seeing it in person to hold versus digitally turning the pages.
I also miss the styles before the 2010s just because these styles appear more timeless
I completely agree with the influencers role in this. Most influencers I see just go and post about fashion shows to flex the fact they have been there, or the fact they have been provided with stylish expensive clothes for free. This “free giving” PR strategy also seems to have diminished any critical voice of fashion shows attendees. There is no introspection or critical description of the pieces being presented. They all just try to shower the brand and designers with complements and acclamation to make sure they secure an invite for the next show. Of course, not all influencers are like this, as many are very passionate about fashion and create content that goes beyond the materialism of “just looking good/being trendy”. But I cannot deny how boring and sad it has become
ОтветитьTbh there is nothing better than a brand new fat magazine and a coffee…reading off your phone just doesn’t hold the same feeling
ОтветитьDayum you look hot here. 🫀🔥😍
ОтветитьYou do not pronounce the h in cahier like an English h. The word is pronounce ka yay. That’s it, ka yay!
ОтветитьAs a fat kid, fashion magazines did nothing for me except make me feel ugly and poor. They made me buy into desirability politics before I had my multiplication tables memorised. I was diagnosed with depression when I was 10, and that was around the time I cut the cord– I got my first issue of Metal Hammer for my birthday and never looked back. I now collect vintage music and tattoo mags.
I'm glad my nieces don't read fashion magazines, especially my eldest, but now I'm constantly concerned about what the eldest is seeing on TikTok and on here because her parents are negligent and lazy about her net safety, but they're snotty Gen Xers who think they know it all so they won't take my advice...
i'm in my senior year of college & when i was a kid i wanted to be a fashion designer!! i think the drop in fashion aspirations has to do with the end of the project runway golden era
Ответитьwhen I was younger me and a friend actually wanted to become fashion designers. It was always cool to color those model coloring books!
Ответитьpleaae make your esoteric topic videos if you can, what i love about your videos is your well-researched and well-thought out analysations, i always learn something and ill click on them even if its not something im super interested in. i would love to learn more niche things from you. (i get it though, get your clicks girl)
Ответить“Cahier” is pronounced “kah-yay” nice video btw 😊
ОтветитьFor ur movie recommendation ask: ME AND EARL AND THE DYING GIRL
ОтветитьSooo glad someone ( but yay you most importantly) addressed this! I’m 52 I was a magazine addict!! Every single one and I went to college for fashion! Later got my graduates in Library Sciences, and became a school librarian! So is older gal really really knew magazines! And my heart broke when the stupid kindle came out! I despise magazines in it or books!! Ugh I thought it wouldn’t last 😢 but it did….it sucks
ОтветитьI was a long time subscriber of Allure. I was not happy about the discontinuation of the print edition. I thought it was one of the best fashion magazines out there. It was better than Vogue. I thought it was a big mistake; however I am still following them through their digital format. But it is not the same.
ОтветитьMine wants to be a firefighter astronaut 🤷♀
ОтветитьI am 16 years old and I wanted to have a job at a fashion magazine, also because of the 'old' tv shows and movies.
ОтветитьMagazine editor here. I can attest that industry is pretty sensitive towards current culture. Eight years ago, we (as editors) had to be as simple in language as possible. That was due to the fact you were supposed to attract as many readers as possible. As the influencers, streamers and internet went through it's rushing phase where content was just spitted out with terrible imagery and superficial topics on life (or just life as it is), the new norm sets back to elaborate language, play with words, mastery of the style and uniqueness of delivery. There were some transitional years where editors were more gutted to experiment but - advertisers really push the limits on creativity. These people are often not interested in your vision or magazine content, they want to know how many readers/visitors clicked their website or bought from them thanks to you. It is not just clicks, though. They more often now want to get traffic AND conversion. Which puts an enormous stress upon the media industry and it's almost useless to work on article the way you would for print - character point is very strict, people are more into headlines than actual content and besides all that, it is so instant that your work gets replaced by thousands of other articles in that same vein within minutes. And as the magazine industry dies out, you can see TERRIBLE decline in graphic designers quality. To find a good, reliable and creative graphic designer is now even harder than hire an editor. Hence why most magazine you see look so flat and boring in terms of layout. And consequently, because the layout becomes boring your content is not so appealing to look at, which eventually causes loss of interest in readers. So to sum it up, today outlook of the magazine and media industry revolves around online content and printed publication is really just extra to amplify the status you built upon the loyalty of fans gained online. If magazine want to stay relevant, like below mentioned Vogue Philippines, they have to think out of box and then become viral with the cover story or feature so it is visible, discussed and desired to be bought.
ОтветитьDown With Love was an homage to the films of Rock Hudson and Doris Day from the early sixties.
Ответитьthe mad men actor went to star in superstore a sitcom i recommend !!
ОтветитьInteresting!
Ответитьjust found ur channel love your content sm!!!!!
Ответитьhearing someone finally talk about Down With Love made me happy :,) grew up watching that because I was obsessed with Ewan mcgregor! Lol
ОтветитьIn this day in age I don't trust any sources to be honest. It's just entirely too easy to fake anything.
Ответитьwait, what's that esoteric content you want to talk about?
ОтветитьThe only fashion magazine I technically subscribe to is Patagonia’s catalogue. Tho they’re not necessarily selling you their products. They’re selling you the people that buy their products. Theres been many topics regarding sustainability, ecological activism and cultural topics regarding sex, sexuality etc in the outdoor sport category.
ОтветитьMina ur so pretty!!! Your face in the thumbnail looks like te cutest doll❤ feels like ur glowing more than befor idk
ОтветитьI never knew I was a fashion girl growing up but as a grown woman today. I definitely know I am! I love your channel!
ОтветитьTo be fair i did wanted to work at buzzfeed at some point and they did some outfit content
Ответить. Actually, the first fashion magazine with a black woman in its cover was British Vogue magazine, featuring Donyale Luna.
ОтветитьI'm in my mid-20's and never wanted to work for a fashion magazine. As a 14-15 year old I wanted to be a fashion designer and am now going to school for tailoring after dropping out of uni.
ОтветитьI've seriously considered starting a fashion street magazine blogesque kind of thing, purely because of my nostalgia attached to magazines, I love the graphics and spreads (despite the fact that I seriously disagree how fashion magazines at the height of their popularity have seriously reinforced toxic beauty standards/white supremacy in beauty and fashion)
