TEDxMilano - Andrea Segrè - on elimination of wastes

Dean of Faculty and Professor of Comparative and International Agricultural Politics, conceived and developed the 'Last Minute Mark' in 1999, to recover for charitable purposes, goods (food and non-food) that otherwise would have gone unsold. In 2003 the project became a spin off of the University of Bologna, where Segrè is President (www.lastminutemarket.it). In 2010, under the auspices of the European Parliament, he initiated a campaign promoting 'A Year Against Waste', to sensitize the European public opinion on the environmental, economic and social waste of resources. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations).
