I've never listened to much of R.E.M (besides the classics of course), but The Bear really struck a chord with this song and the scene. I met Ken Stringfellow about 8 years ago in the most bizarre fashion, and over the course of 2 days we had the pleasure of showing him around the country and learning from his wisdom. Life is good sometimes.

I'm glad this song is getting some new love. When it was release as a single some people saw it as as rehash of "Everybody Hurts." Out of context, though, it very much looks like its own thing: more murky and cryptic in that classic Stipey way.
