Influencer Courses are Garbage: The Dark Side of Content Creation

Love your stuff. Don't care about you personally. But the content's amazing. 😉

If you want to be an “influencer” which is a cringe and stupid word I can’t take seriously, your motives are working against you.
But if you want to express yourself or make art or educate others through videos, because you enjoy making videos, make videos because you enjoy it. If you don’t enjoy making videos, probably best not to chase it as a career just because you want to be rich and famous. If you make something great and put heart and soul into it, someone will watch it. I would rather have a small audience of 100 - 1000 that truly enjoys my content than 1000000 viewers who just watch it because it’s trendy or popular.

Do you think everyone who criticizes progressive ideology is an “alt right nut job”? Just curious, because words have meaning and nuance is important. If you criticize the BLM riots or Antifa, are you an “alt-right nut job”? If you think free speech is more important than hurt feelings, are you an “alt-right nut job”? If you think giving special treatment or harsh mistreatment based on race or sex is immoral, no matter who is on the receiving end of it, are you an “alt-right nut job”? If you believe in meritocracy, are you an “alt-right nut job”? If you’re Christian or conservative or both, are you an “alt-right nut job”?
You may think I’m being hyperbolic, but there are people who may not admit they feel that way, but you know they do based on how they behave and the baseless accusations they throw at people with whom they disagree.

watched this at just the right time. recovering from burnout after hitting partner on twitch several months ago, and i suddenly felt so distant from everyone. im getting back into the swing of things, streaming with no schedule, just sharing my art when i feel like it. its nice. i feel something shifting in the right direction, and this video identified so many of those feelings i had been confused, even felt guilty about experiencing. thank you

My own brush with virality came with posting a video of my friend’s dog goofing around to reddit - within two hours it had 20,000 upvotes and I had a message asking if it could be put on on the wire. I deleted the video and closed all my social media accounts , it was one of the scariest, weirdest feeling I’ve ever known.

you probably won't see my comment but i wanna throw my opinion, i exploded on tiktok in 2020 making bite sized leafyishere like content, i got over 100k followers and 2 videos with over a million views but i fell off heavily due to never uploading nearly as much as i used to. i caught lightening in a bottle and never really went for it. it goes to show how fleeting that opportunity is too, that amount of luck to strike gold with a massive following count, that amount of luck doesn't mean anything if you don't constantly chase it. it doesn't care about you and it will leave you behind eventually.

Long story short: Unartistic, unintelligent people make millions of dollars because millions of unartistic, unintelligent people like their videos and fall prey to their schemes. The mongaloids scamming their own people. Oh, and some luck. Got it 👍🏻

A lot of effort and work went into this. I watched the whole thing from start to finish. Crazy amount of research done. I’m at a point in my life where I’m desperately seeking a new career path, something that doesn’t make me miserable. I know your overall message was positive, but I wanted to thank you for helping me make the decision NOT to go all in on content creation. I’m a numbers guy. Statistics. The pure luck you need, on top of the overwhelming odds against you, now seems like a delusional pipe dream. I may still do shorts for fun, but I’m not betting all my chips on this right now. Im using this as a source/citation on my thesis work for my media engineering degree. Its about Information and media literacy in youth and im doing a part on the para-social aspect of influencers. I have been a fan of the chanel and the content for a few years now and i absoulutly love the stuff you make. Thank you for the absoulutly awsome works.
