Luke, you do a great job but please please stop using only FCP as an editing comparison. Use Premiere Pro as well which is more CPU based and an After Effects Project so people can actually get a bigger overall picture of the performance. Resolve color page with noise reduction performance would be great as well. These are the performance criteria that real video professionals need to know, not how long a video takes to

Luke, thank you for always proving your feedback on these new devices! I upgraded from my 2019 Intel 15 inch MacBook Pro to the M3 Pro 16 inch MacBook Pro and this beast flies!

I have an M2 Max. So, now I’m waiting for a M3 ultra in a MacBook Pro. M3 max just isn’t a big enough upgrade.

Always love Luke's videos. but I just can't get over the fact that 99.9% of people really don't need this kind of performance. M1 Airs and Pros are more than enough for most people. It's cool that Apple and Intel can make these powerful machines. But we should be thinking about saving resources and keeping perfectly good laptops in use and relevant. If Apple was really serious about this then stop updating OS every year and make older laptops easier to repair.

Personally I think most creatives want to see the M3 Max 16inch performance not the 14 inch.

Be interesting to know a real life comparison between the performance these machines provide, and what the end users ultimately leverage from it? Apple would never want that published, otherwise it will probably demonstrate that the majority don't need either M2 or M3 chips really as yet over the M1 series.

Obviously if I was buying new, M3 would be a more obvious choice, but not over my Mac Studio M1 Max. Will keep me happy for years yet. Might go for a new laptop, but a refurbished M2 Air or M2 Pro will probably make more financial sense than a new M3 variant in reality.

Can you please make a comparison video between all the M Max lines? From M1 Max to M3 Max? I am very curious because they have decreased the memory bandwidth from 400Gb/s from the M1 Max and I'm curious as to how it plays out in performance. Please and thank you!

I think that for some people, how well, some Virtualisation software works on M3 is a key issue. Mac Intel virtualisation is a big plus for some software, like Revit that people use via Parallels x86 with dedicated AMD graphic cards. How that software works on Macs with M3? Parallels for Apple Silicon runs Windows for ARM, not the x86 version. Can we get a comparison on Virtualisation?

Thank you for the straight real talk, Luke! Other channels love to Geekbench it out or use 2 second EEVEE tests as validation but you're really ensuring to put these machines through real world moderately heavy use case scenarios.

Hey Luke, you know what testing is never done? Real world application opening times, I don't think I have ever seen that comparison anywhere. Cinebench , Blender ....who cares. Let's face it what percentage of macbook users are regularly rendering video? 10%? What percentage of macbook users use a mac for games? 5%? What percentage want stuff to load quicker instead of looking at a spinning ball loading MS and Adobe products? 100%? Do a startup and loading comparison for mum and dads office / graphic applications - Intel / M1 / M2 /M3.

FCP 10.7 should significantly increase export speeds on the Ultra (especially) and Max chips. They will be using all engines at once.

Luke, did you happen to buy a 14-CORE M3 Max configuration (of a 14” MacBook Pro)? Since this is the most affordable of the M3 Max configs, I’d love to see what those benchmarks are compared to the others you have. Many thanks!

Shouldn't you be comparing performance versus AMD and Intel and ARM flagship chips?
Otherwise, you're just in an echo chamber.

Watch some of the "ArtIsRight" channel's recent M3 videos. His comparisons and testing are much more in-depth and accurate that yours, and not just rushed out for views. You will see that you are wrong, and in fact yes: the M3 Max MBP 16/40 is faster in a handful of tests than the M1 and M2 Ultra Studio. Even in its stock 48GB / 1TB config - and not with upgraded RAM. So please, stop talking total nonsense.

Unfortunately, this double encoders doesn't work 2x faster for renders, because these are not working together ;/
The same was between m2 pro and m2 max, where m2 max had 2x more encoders then m2 pro.
You can render 2 videos in parallel the same time, then you will only notice the difference... ;/
