My uncle joe used to be such a troublemaker growing up in lynbrook with my dad and my uncle n aunt and he got it worse in school he got slapped with a ruler sent to the principal and had various detentions he said he would rather get in trouble in school and home then in the marines. My granddad finally whipped him into shape and changed him into a man when he broke curfew and took my dad to the local candy store past curfew one day and it wasnt all that pretty man times have changed a lot
ОтветитьWould that work today?, Nooooo
ОтветитьThe whole class needs a good paddling!
Ответитьabuse
ОтветитьThey dont make math teachers that engaging no more
ОтветитьWhen The Students come from extremely poor family background then there's a fair deal of disciple among them because they know what has been taught in the classroom is far more cheaper than that of the study materials and courses enrolled in private coaching institutes... I had taught a large number of economically backward students.. whenever I have given them even a hand out note or a piece of paper they kept it so much carefully with them. They know the value of classroom teachings than most of the city bred rich kids..
ОтветитьIt’s amazing how no one is using a cell phone. Great command of the class. 😂
ОтветитьWorld hasn't changed a bit... speaking from other side of planet and 65 years later... Education, Mathematics and human behaviour...
ОтветитьThese videos are always interesting!
ОтветитьUntil u guys saw average quietest classroom in the Philippines 😏
ОтветитьBad kids in 1947: spitballs, giggling, throwing paper airplanes
Bad kids in 2023: guns, knives, cursing, physically fighting the teacher, mob of kids beating another kid to death
I like this ❤
ОтветитьWhat a sincere informative video
ОтветитьHigh school was the difficult time for me I was about 10 inches shorter than the girls 40 lb overweight with crooked yellow teeth and a bad case of gas even the ugliest girl in school wouldn't give me the time of day show predictably I played with myself a lot and over time went blind
ОтветитьThat same year my grandmother was born.
ОтветитьThe girl who said, "He's got me scared to death" perfectly expresses the sentiment needed among all students in order to maintain classroom discipline. Unfortunately, the only fear in any classroom anymore is that of the teacher--scared she's gonna lose her job if she properly disciplines her students. Today, kids are not scared of any authority, because they see no one as an authority on anything. Their authority is what they see in their phones: Instagram and TikTok influencers. They're not scared of their parents, teachers or police. Gen Z are mostly lawless, the kind of wayward children the Old Testament talks about in Deuteronomy 21.
ОтветитьThus teacher is an angle compared to the others one in the 1950s the 50s were very strict
ОтветитьMost of them are dead
ОтветитьAs an indian teacher my student are good
ОтветитьThis might as well be an alien planet now.
ОтветитьHaving attended an all-boys Catholic high school, I can attest that the positive, friendly, "win friends and influence people" approach would've also led to him getting eaten alive. Sorry, but sometimes you gotta be a hard ass. Trying to be the students' "friends" is just as flawed an approach as acting selfish and miserable.
ОтветитьThat (the second part) was about as good as it gets for those days of rigid rows of immovable desks, high windows and uninspiring walls. Much to be learned from Charles Dickens about schools of his time, his best summation being in "The Uncommercial Traveller".
ОтветитьNo blacks in there huh?
ОтветитьSir I use the metric system
ОтветитьCan we use A.I. to bring Mr Grimes back to teach Math to us?
ОтветитьThese kids weren’t that bad honestly… I know kids who’ve stabbed teachers
ОтветитьBe a good little slave
ОтветитьCool! He uses girls' skills and boys' skills both to give examples of ratios. I remembet the division of labor. We actually knew the principles of the other sex's skills, but felt inhibited about using them in real life.
ОтветитьI like the slide rule at the top of the blackboard!.We had no calculators in those days.
ОтветитьIt's true, though, that students were much better behaved in those days. Teachers reported their biggest problems were things like dropping paper on the floor and passing notes in class.
ОтветитьTeachers now need full body armor and a body guard.
Ответить👍
ОтветитьGrown man child in front of this room. Breed obedience. That makes a great populace...
ОтветитьI love it!
ОтветитьI think most of my teachers watched this and stopped just before the narrator said “this is all wrong”
ОтветитьThe elephant in the room in public education is those causing 95% of the problems. This goes back to desegregation.
ОтветитьThe teacher begins by saying that many of the students lack a foundation for the material. So then teach them the foundations, even if they're 9th graders and you need to teach them to multiply. Teachers are there to teach the kids, not to teach the curriculum. Arrange with their parents for them to stay after school and/or summers for catch-up lessons if necessary. If they don't know the basics, they won't succeed at more advanced content no matter how hard they try.
ОтветитьThere are bound to be a few who don't pass because they don't study. But if the majority earn a D or F on an assessment, then maybe the material wasn't well-taught. Imagine a doctor for whom the majority of his patients don't get well or a restaurant where the majority of the customers get food poisoning. Education is the only business, besides government, that can habitually fail without going out of business. Accountability must be applied to all parties- students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
ОтветитьThe second version of Mr. Grimes is the correct version, for he reasons with the students and shows how math helps in our personal lives and in knowing how to do our jobs. I would gladly obey the second version of Mr. Grimes. I want to be shipped off to an experimental laboratory in Sweden in order to have my stupid brain replaced with a smart brain in order so that I can do Geometry and all other forms of mathematics, for jobs that benefit society and earn a decent living need mathematics in order to be performed. For example, if I were an engineer or an architect, I could design the home of my dreams, which I desire to live in.
ОтветитьIf they only knew about cell phones back then 😂 not to mention of students that fight back teachers and push them down
Ответить😊
ОтветитьI didn’t see any thugs with guns in the video. Hmmm
ОтветитьMy daughter had a college professor this quarter who was just like the bad teacher at the beginning. She belittles students, and arbitrarily gives some students zeros even though they do the projects. Needless to say, a lot of students will be grading her on the Rate My Professors website.
ОтветитьYou can see the two different kinds of people in the comments: people who are motivated by results and people who feel the need to control children with their power
ОтветитьThey need to show this to the “urban” school students lol
ОтветитьI have goosebumps.
ОтветитьWhat a sour teacher
Ответить1.5 feet is 0.5 yards. This means that 4.5÷0.5=9.
