Racquetball Safety Rules Demonstration

I'm going to show you how to play safe racquetball and how you can stay out of harm's way while playing. To properly demonstrate, I'm going to bring in Judd from Pacific Sports Warehouse to play as my opponent.

To start with, Judd is going to take center court, which is the spot you'd like to be most of the time in the rally. Judd has to give me two shots: he has to allow me to hit a ball straight up-and-back and he has to allow me to hit a shot cross-court.

It's important that Judd gives me enough space so that I can take a step and a full swing. If he doesn't do that, he's liable to get hit with my racquet when I hit that cross-court shot. So, he'll need to move a bit to the side to give me that space.

Any time you think the ball is close and you're likely to get hit with the ball or the racquet, you should turn away and put your racquet up to protect your face. This is very important to avoid getting injured.

Lets switch it up and put Judd on the other side of the court so I can do some backhand swings. In this example, you'll follow the same rules: give your opponent enough room for a full step and swing. The backhand swing has a larger swing so your opponent will need to move over just a bit more.

Keeping in mind these tactics will ensure that when you play racquetball, you'll be safe and you'll have a great time!
