Just got the zr2. Been loving it. 4000 miles and no issues yet. Long drives have been super comfy.

Jeff can you notice a difference in handling while cruising down the freeway at 80 mph? My ‘21 Trail Boss tracked extremely well. My ‘23 ZR2 seems to wander slightly. Additionally, the Trail Boss seemed to have better throttle response and acceleration which makes no sense considering they both have the same 6.2 engine and transmission. Overall I was more pleased with the Trail Boss than I am with the ZR2. Any thoughts?

i am looking at a new truck, usually i go Ford, but the trail boss with the diesel is singing my name. Chevy half tons are the best looking trucks on the market, the diesel gets good MPGs with all the reviews praising it, the trail boss looks super cool, and i can get to deer camp without ripping off the plastic bit under the bumper...

but....i am poor...so i gotta look at the custom...but...i wish to hell there was a "northwoods utility package" for the custom line...heated seats, outlets for cordless tools and stuff in cab and bed, towing package stuff like trailer brake controller etc...but just keep small screen and 40/20/40 seat. keep it simple, but the truck would have all that stuff that really makes a truck handy and able to work. right now to get it if i am reading the chevy website correctly i have to get the LT line, but then i loose the bench seat, which i need...also the LT gets to spendy as a result of a bunch of stuff i won't really use anyway...

I wish they would refresh the custom trail boss interior and give you the 6.2l option

I'm tempted to get the Trailboss LT, just because my height I gotta look at half-ton Trucks. Would be a lot better if I wasn't 6'10.

Here’s the differences
1.if you’re spending upwards of the 50k area don’t buy a Custom! Spend the extra 8k$ get an LT stop buying base models what’s another 50 a month on 600$
2. LTs are nice heated seats/wheel, different gauge clusters , bigger screen, but again it’s a trail boss and you get 30$ rancho shocks that ride like shit will buck you out of the seat immediately put bilsteins on it if you buy it.
3. The ZR2 is embarrassing for 80k$ uses the same shocks as the Colorado zr2, still ride like shit again swap for Bilsteins and they are still having issues with the two piece lifters, wait another year when new model comes out and they release the new 5.3 and 6.2, and they get rid of the basic ass Chevy interior even with the “refresh” which is nothing. Different screen inside

The rear lower shock mounts are so idiotic. It’s like someone that has never off-roaded designed it. Just unreal.

You did forget a couple things. The TrailBoss LT has a Trailboss start up screen while the ZR2 gets nothing. Also, the ZR2 has the really satisfying turn signals while the other don’t.

Hey Jeff,
As always, another great video with tons of reliable info!!
Sounds like you're saying heads up display and ventilated seats are not an option in the LT trail boss, is that correct? Thanks

Don't get me wrong. I love the Trail Boss. I have a '22 Trail Boss LT. I needed it to tow my trailer with UTV. Have to be able to get down muddy trails to offload. BUT, to say these trucks are built for off-roading is silly. Not with the rear shocks hanging down like that....begging for a rock to smack them.

Been waiting to order my 22 High Country but with all the restrictions on 6.2 engine , Tech Package and Multi Flex Tailgate I haven’t been able to. My dealer called me today and said I won the GM lottery and they were accepting my order even with the restrictions. Have you heard of this before.

At that price of the ZR2 at 82k I rather get a real bonified off road truck like a Raptor or a TRX

NorthernStar - 12.07.2022 04:30

so really the difference between a trailboss and a zr2 is a front locking diff and DSSV shocks on the zr2. and of course ZR2 badging which I suspect is what the majority of people buying a ZR2 are interested in. not seeing the advantage worth tens of thousands more in price.

Not your fault, but it'd been nice to see the custom in something other than black so that you could see the contrasting colors. I'm going to go ahead and say it, I hate black TBs. I'm also curious to see if they give the customs an update as well. I was talking to the owner of my dealership about an updated High Country they got in, and we agreed that it's awesome. But not everyone needs all of that!

Jeff when you order the 20 inch wheels you get the option of taking a less aggressive all terrain tire i think you save like $ 200 . I’ve seen this on the website while building.not a bad savings if you’re going to on road most of the time .
