1 million is not more money than you can use 😂. I could spend that in an afternoon. Buy 3 Lamborghinis, boom, its all gone.

I really recommend giving to small, local charities, not giant "corporate" ones. You'll get to see how your gift helps in much more tangible ways. Find local homeless shelters, women's shelters, pregnancy care centers, after-school programs, etc. They always have lists of things they need it's a lot more rewarding and tangible to buy a new washing machine for a shelter than it is to just write a $500 check. Both are great of course, but if you're struggling to feel like you're making a difference, just going a level deeper with more personal gifts (of money OR time) can make a huge difference.

A year ago I realized I needed to get out of the house, so I volunteer, once a week to hang out with kids in gr. 4-6 in an after school program. Love it. God spoke to me recently to do more things for people, mostly baking etc, to give away. I am 64.

i dont get it, 1 million in today's world is nothing!! nothing!! i mean, is a good start but that is all. loads of things can happen, you could loose your job tomorrow and face real hardship... until you cross a bare minimum of 5 million, you cannot say you're safe, and even 5 million... i'd say today is more like 10 million.. then, ok, feel miserable, but you have loads of work to do till then

Jack sounds exactly like me at 36. I MEAN EXACTLY! My advice would be start putting money away for the upcoming divorce in 10 years.

Can relate to that. Haven’t yet settled as much as this guy, but you keep working hard for years because everyone said that’s what you should be doing and then at some point you don’t know what are you working towards, don’t personally find a value in what you are doing and struggle with the existential crisis. I know a lot of people would love to have that problem, lol.

If I had that money I would dedicate myself to advocating for animal rights and to volunteering (in addition to writing checks) with the charities that matter to me. Oh and take tropical vacations :)

Its real simple.. this guy needs to leverage up. The renewed debt load will give him renewed purpose. Im sort of in his boat except we have some debt on investment property... primary residence is owned outright.

Money is not the answer to happiness... fulfillment is. It doesn't matter what your financial condition. If you have fulfillment...that is the ultimate win!
