Small, is one thing, weak, is another. " I am a small weak woman, ", is a weird statement regardless of how she meant it. Lots of smaller guys and women are strong, athletic, self confident, etc, and don't think of themselves as( weak). This person seems fragile not only in physical size but also mentally, and how she perceived herself in general. Also, she was not helpless, she could of yelled at the Creep, called out for help, ignored him, moved away, etc. But she truly is too weak because she perceived herself as entirely helpless( like a child).

I will NEVER understand a parent not taking their daughter seriously when they express concern about a strange encounter with a man! Why the hell not?? Unless your child is a bleeding liar....even then! I keep hearing that over and over again while listening to these stories. Unbelievable!! I really hate that!!

Story 12 really had me on the edge of my seat. I grew up in a chaotic environment and practically had to raise my youngest brother for two years. Now I'm more protective of him than I am of anyone or anything else and he means the absolute world to me.
That feeling you get when your kid or someone you care about is in danger and you have a chance to protect them is like nothing you can describe. You just feel your heart pounding in your chest, and every thought goes silent as you prepare to just spring into action.

Omg I am so annoyed with the girl that was studying abroad! If you are not mature, you should not have gone!
If you couldn’t make friends - it’s not the schools fault! This two girls you tried to get in trouble - it wasn’t their fault you had no $ to change your ticket nor pay for a hotel/hostel etc.. you knew this schools policy ! ( it’s called a job or ask parents for few $)
It wasn’t the 2 guys on trail job to be kind and protect you ( would have been nice but it’s not their job) close the curtain yourself! And you woke up people to tell them you are going to the bathroom- and shocker they were annoyed! Omg!!

The guy who followed you - singled you out cause you couldn’t stand up to even close the curtain!

I know plenty of people who made friends ( for life) and absolutely loved their time in Europe without expecting others to stand up for them! 🙄

Lol rant over! Thank you!

Ps thank you for amazing stories!!

The one where the guy was forcing them to stay at the hostel....if u ask me that would have ended up just like the movie HOSTEL if they had went to that address🥴 and he was making calls to people HELL NOPE! you'll end up tied to a chair while a deranged rich person is cutting you into little pieces and they paid $10,000,000 to do so. NOPE I'm good thank u. I'll pay e,tra for the regular hotel Tyvm!😅

I'm calling bs on story number two. You start out by providing context, that would have made you a person with decent street-sense. Streetwise is a good thing to be while traveling. Since you wanna portray yourself as streetwise, there is no way you wouldn't understand what, "jobby," meant. That sort of naivete is saved for those lacking in streetwise abilities.

I feel like people should learn to help people who are in danger, the story about the girl having to take a train back to Rome and having to deal with some creep without anyone caring about helping her is just sad. If I was there I would’ve been by her side to keep her safe and comfort her. Also is that usually how people in that area act when they see someone that is trying to find someone to help them? It seems like the people in that area don’t take women seriously?

The one story, about the "bothered" female? Everybody on that train seems "etch a sketch", to me anyway. I understand the "I don't wanna get involved" defense, I really do. BUT, you SHOULD imagine if that person was EVER...YOUR... wife, daughter, sister, or best friend!! Wouldn't you wish for someone to help them if they are, indeed, scared?!?!

🇬🇧 Ive always been a confident person, never aggressive but i certainly wouldnt take any crap.

Since the age of 12yrs old & when going by train to stay with my friend in the country. I learned to defend myself!

My dad took me to the station & my friend & her dad were meeting me on the Station platform at my destination.

This was late 1960s & i had on my best, smart but fashionable clothes, plus my brand new umbrella, the fancy type with a pearl handle & a 4in long, metal Stiletto type spike at the apex of the Brolly!

Anyway there were a couple of old codgers at the end of the train carriage but there were lots of empty seats around me.
Then this scruffy middle aged bloke got on at a Station & made a beeline to my seat.
I had a feeling he would, so i was on my mettle!

He sat in the next seat to mine &
Lord! He stank of booze, cigarettes & sweat & vile B.O.
He was actually slobbering & grunting, i became very angry because i knew he was trying to intimidate me.

He then slapped his meaty hand right on my knee! I WAS A 12YR OLD GIRL! F.F.S.
I was livid & hoisted my umbrella & rammed it down very hard, spike first, into his foot!

Since he only wore filthy canvas sneakers, the umbrella spike drove right down through his foot!
He screamed blue murder!
Howling! Jumping up, hopping on his good foot & filling the air with foul obscenities!
I felt elated & im not a vindictive person & i hate Bullies
( i was never bullied at school or university or later at work but i defended the victims of bullies as i really hated a gang up on a single weaker person.. argh!)

Anyway, this guy rushed off, down the carriage & almost flew off the train when it pulled in to the next Station!
I honestly felt so victorious & so proud to have defended myself from a horrible adult!

As soon as i got off the train,
I told my friend & her dad, who just happed to be a Chief Superintendant of Police!
As a priority ( as i was only 12yrs) the guy was traced & arrested.
He had a rap sheet for multiple offences! He wouldnt try to molest any more young girls again!

My friends dad later told me, the Coppers at the Police Station were helpless with good natured laughter when they found out a young schoolgirl had stabbed the
Filthy beast in his foot with her spikey ended umbrella!!

Since then, ive learned advance Self Defence courses, & even how to " Nut" someone
( smacking the hard front part of your forehead off an attackers nose! Very effective !)

So many classes on new techniques to ward off attack
How to free yourself from being
Captive, most of these courses are run by Police guys & even reformed ex con gangsters who show how to legally ( & sometimes not so...) protect yourself & others!

Ive not had to use any of what i learned, only perhaps a couple of times, in desparate situations
BUT... its the self confidence you gain.
And this translates to any perpetrator, you may face, because YOU know enough to fight back & floor the others,
AND the attackers SENSE this about you, that you can be dangerous, and could HURT them

99.9% of the time, they back off
They wont mess with you!
The best self defence teacher i ever had was a tiny, small boned Japanese Lady, & WOW she was like RoboCop! She could take on 5 or more burly men & bury them!

Dont be a victim, because you subconciously advertise your vunerability to any shitty low lifers
Learn to defend yourself & as well as gaining amazing skills you gain 100% confidence!

Ive travelled all over Europe & the Far East on my own & was never threatened, molested or hurt by anyone!
Dont rely on others to help you out, not everyone is nice & protecting!
Thanks for the Super Train Horrors!
Peace
🇬🇧👧

All of these encounters are the reason I carry a pull tab tazer (among other things) and these creeps make me want to try it out on them. If it’s taken from me, the pull tab is removed and I can’t be used against me. In 3 seconds of contact, it would have these crazies urinating and defecating themselves, while keeping them down 3 minutes or more. If you’re feeling “small and weak”, find ways to protect yourself instead of just resigning to that. There are exceptions and I’m not naive to that, but so many times, people will only treat you the way you allow.

Creepy guys? I can handle them. Done it a few times, and it was what it was... But crazy pooping ladies? Hell no! That's why I don't ride trains.

The chick in story 13 is a narcissistic entitled ass. It’s not that she asked for assistance that bugs me. It’s that she seems to feel entitled to what she is asking people to do.
1) She guilt trips the friend from school to give up their extra night because she couldn’t afford another night, when they were nice enough to travel with her friendless ass to start with.
2) Rather than having a little gumption/self reliance, she asks the German guys to close the blinds.
3) She wakes up the German students to ask them to keep an eye out for her.
When did all these people sign her adoption papers and take her on to raise and look out for?
4) it’s kind of telling that literally every group she comes in contact with, doesn’t want anything to do with her/feel like she’s exaggerating/ignore her supposed “cries for help.” There’s no way if this guy was really following her, being as obvious as she claims, and trying to do something sinister that not a single person in one of those groups wouldn’t have noticed and assisted her, rather than distancing themselves from her. That’s just illogical. Yet, The friends from school bail on her, and neither the German man, the German students, nor the Italians, thought the supposed “threat” was anything worth being concerned about. Even the dean, thought it was all in her head, which tells me that he probably is aware of something she’s not telling us. FYI, if it was just him downplaying it I might think he’s victim blaming, but the fact she’s so quick to throw others under the bus and call them & the dean names, tells me that this probably wasn’t her first freak out over a non situation and he was done listening to her “cry wolf”.
It almost just sounds like she’s really awkward, an attention seeker and people are put off by her social interaction skills, hence the rejection by multiple groups.
