Game time? Lucky......
ОтветитьStep 1: Like RPGs
ОтветитьLove your taste, man. Almost everything in your list I've beat myself or have at least played. Glad you have Growlanser! Both Growlanser and Langrisser are underrated.
ОтветитьSometimes I will have someone else help with getting through my backlog. I too do not have a ton of time to play as real life is a lot. I have amassed a good size backlog over the years so I'll give my friend the choice between a couple of letters. They pick then I'll let choose either between 1-5 (where only I know which game is which number) or once they picked "H" and I had them pick between "Ha" or "Ho". That was between Hades and Horizon 1. That is how I finally beat Horizon years after buying it.
ОтветитьWow hard to watch your current videos then go watch your old vids and see this cleancut fellow. Beard or go home!!!
ОтветитьI have an excel sheet of my top 100 games (and other completed games that didn’t make the cut), and I have a second sheet within that document of my “up next,” “for another day,” and “ABANDONED” games. Having this has
ОтветитьOoo another chance of seeing cute David can't believe I didn't c this one yet
ОтветитьI’m trying ! It’s not easy when you know a games coming out soon and you rush to get a rpg done you feel you cheated yourself and skipped side stuff just to get it done, I’m trying to take my time with octopath 2 but I’ll know I’ll eventually rush it at the end, family with 2 kids too so don’t get the time I used to
ОтветитьI identify a lot with this video. I have an active scholarly life as well as gym life. My wife is not out of town often, but works many hours as a veterinarian, sometimes in the weekends. So I take these Opportunities to play games, but only after (i) work is done; (ii) dogs are walked; (iii) gym is hit; and (iv) my reading is done. And you know what? It works!
ОтветитьThat is really cool to look back on! I have little notes on my phone’s note app, but nothing this detailed. But it is a great idea so you have something to look back on and to see what mindset you were in when you played them and everything. Also, a whole lotta HCBailly watching, haha! Can’t blame you there!
ОтветитьLate to comment by like a year, lol... But the way I get through anything, books, games, movies, series, etc, is just playing a bit of something or reading a bit of something and not worrying about how fast I'm getting through things. Doing something on a daily basis ensures I get things done at a steady clip.
ОтветитьI used to keep a word document of all the games I wanted to play and all the games I finished. But now I just use howlongtobeat
ОтветитьI love square David
ОтветитьI LOVE this!
My backlog is ever growing and most of my gaming time tends to get eaten up by Dead by Daylight.
And I think it's the daunting task of deciding which game to settle down with that keeps me from actually doing so.
I already keep notebooks listing my games by genre in hopes that will help but I will definitely be implementing this method and hopefully start chipping away at that backlog.
Thanks so much for this! 😁
Yes! The hc Bailly shout-out! Love him vids!! And yours too 😸
ОтветитьI've never seen so many RPGs in a single backlog @_@
The fact that you beat many of them is admirable.
I fully disagree with your opinion on Mario and Luigi Super Star Saga. It's easily among my favorite JRPGs of all time.
ОтветитьI agree with your opinion of Metroid Prime 2: I played like 5 hours of it and bored me to death. I beat the first and the 3rd one. I didn't love either of those games, but, unlike Metroid Prime 2, at least they had something relately exciting about them.
Metroid Prime 1 had an amazing tutorial (I loved the tutorial), my favorite videogame soundtrack of all time, and it was the beginning of the Metroid Prime saga.
Metroid Prime 3 was the ending of the trilogy, and I loved traveling to other planets. Also, the graphics are the best in the entire trilogy.
But Metroid Prime 2? The story isn't that exciting. It's neither the 1st nor the last game in the trilogy, so the story doesn't excite me that much. And everything felt like meh. The light and dark world mechanic was annoying as heck.
Damn, I see that you love Dragon Quest. Not only did you beat them, you also made a challenge on some of them (such as doing the "no shop" challenge on DQ 5), and you played multiple versions of them (such as playing DQ 3 in both the GBC and the SNES).
Also curious that you have beaten both Baten Kaitos games: I have both games on my backlog, and I haven't beaten them yet. I like the combat of the 1st one, and I always wanted to play Origins ever sisnce it came out in 2006. I don't like the combat in Origins though. I still like the art style, so I may beat it some day.
Love that you shared your Word doc system. I enjoy seeing into other people's brains. I've been using OneNote to keep organized at work and started using it to collect information for games. It's a little handier for making quick notes, is easy to search, and syncs across devices without much fuss.
Ответитьit makes me so happy to see somebody else that loves to keep spreadsheets of what theyve done and what they want to do, all my friends think its stressful but i think its inspires and keeps you on track! also i love to put on some lets plays while cross stitching too!
ОтветитьI always wondered what it would look like managing that level of gameplay. Thank you for sharing!
ОтветитьI went on Reddit, etc., looking at discussions of the definitive best stories in Jrpg's, and logged the ones agreed upon consistently.
When I hear they have elements I don't like, I remove it off the list. I cross off more games being picky than actually playing them lol
Most series there's an agreed upon best game or 3. As of now I got 12 must play games, and the Kiseki series.
I have basically no backlog.
Anything else I play is just gravy or for fun.
I only NEED to play the best stories, making that distinction kills 98% of backlog.
Better to waste a few minutes researching than an afternoon of terrible gameplay.
You're really becoming one of my favorite channels
ОтветитьEven as an unemployed person, I don't think I have enough time to finish as many games.
ОтветитьI mean RPGs are not hard for the most part, just figure out the algorithm or what breaks the game mechanics that makes you super op and whala, know you know how I’ve beaten 100’s if RPGs.
ОтветитьPart of me wanted you to make a crazy insomnia joke lol.
I do like how you make peace with a game being bad and moving on. I struggle with that and always feel the need to complete the game so I didn’t quit “before it became good.”
39 years old? Dude, not fair
ОтветитьIco in ridiculously bad list. That's something I don't see too often. Many people love that game and it's really short (few hours).
ОтветитьGreat video will make a list
ОтветитьI'm 1 year younger than you, and i also keep a ridiculous list of every game i've ever beaten, ever since I was a teenager. SOLIDARITY
ОтветитьOver the years I've seen quite a few videos on the topic of a backlog, but this is probably my favorite example now, simply because you physically showed and explained your documentation method.
ОтветитьSoooo, those are the only games you've ever beat..........
🤔 Seriously mind boggling David
I need to do something like this and make a plan to clear through my backlog.
ОтветитьCan I recommend steambot Chronicles for ps2? At least check out a review if you have the time.
ОтветитьDo you ever get frustrated when you dont complete an rpg in time? That’s something i would be worried about using your way.
ОтветитьOh you are married, not available anymore... jokes aside glad to know a gay couple can be happily married! Also interesting video thanks!
ОтветитьThis is my biggest problem lol picking a game and sticking with it (even deciding is difficult) as I own a psp/vita/3ds/ps1-ps4 on top of emulation
ОтветитьI work full time, struggle to get through 3 games a year
ОтветитьICO is on your "ridiculously bad" list!? Highly questionable call, David!! The only reason I can imagine is that you somehow got frustrated with the puzzles or maybe played it on stream, cuz it's really meant to be played alone. But I still liked seeing how you effectively complete your games!
ОтветитьVery cool, consider an excel database to make it easier to sort and filter information!
ОтветитьGreat organized document. I made same thing when I got PS3 in 2006 keep track of all digital and disc games. Then it was convoluted and moved into Excel which made it easier. You can make sheets per console and use columns for title, yr release, console, price, dlc, complete date or in progress, or even color code each cell. Now I updated it every few weeks when buying or PS+ game. Lunar next on list after I finish Tactics orgre.
ОтветитьI would beat 100 rpgs if my ps3 didn’t need repair
ОтветитьHow to not clear your backlog... start playing FFXIV... havent touched another game in over 10 months
ОтветитьThe funniest thing is that Shadow Madness is the first RPG I remembered playing. I didn't even know exactly which games I would like, I'd just ask my parents based on the cover. I have fond memories of trying to play this game lmao.
ОтветитьWow 39? wouldnt have guessed it
Ответитьyou should definitely play Legend of Mana. basically that's my first introduction to jRPGs~ (i'mma have dilemma between Megaman Legends or Legend of Mana as my first RPG but i just regarded Megaman Legends as an action adventure game w/ a dash of RPG haha)
anyways, Legend of Mana, try it ;)
Thx for the video. I do it differently. But it's generally a good idea to make a list of the games that are currently being played and the ones that will be played in the future.
