I was 16 years old in my last year at a high school where the zombie teaching staff’s only objective was to move as many of us out door as possible while slapping a diploma on our backs .

My girlfriend was driving us to another day of “class” and THIS SONG came on the radio. I said Wait . What is THAT? WHO is THAT? Pull over !!! TURN IT UP ! I had NEVER HEARD anything like it. Someone was singing the truth about what it was to try to hold onto your humanity in a world intent on stripping it away. I was never the same. I graduated AND I got out of that town NEVER looked back. What’s amazing is that Jackson Browne wrote this song when he was 16 years . Same age I was when I first heard it. Listening to it now 40 years later it’s just as incredible and relevant as it ever was. Thank you Jackson Browne. Just thank you .
