Glenrio Tx is a ghost town on the old Route 66 at the border of Texas and New Mexico. It was a filming location for “Bus Stop” with Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe. It died when the new hwy 40 bypassed it. Sad.

i grew up in industrial dockland ,it was very run down as we transitioned from industry to our economy being dependent on students and call centers .

my wife can put the washing out on the line with out fear of it being dirtier after she washed it once it air dried , it was always a concern for my mam .

but i miss the sh,ttiness of it all ,the excitement of exploring abandoned buildings of being where i promised i would not go .

this makes me long for it .I sometimes drive 15 miles up the road to go to town that is run down and I feel like I'm home.

even miss the cold and the hunger , nostalgia can mess with your head .

It is sad to see these towns fade and crumble away. It is hard to believe these towns were one time busy places on Saturdays when everyone come to town to stock up on goods. I guess like everything it served it's place in time.

Is the population variance between the census and post office related to "city limits"?

My postal code is for a very small city in east Texas. However, I'm not counted as a resident, as I live outside the city limits. The current population is less than 300, but there are way more people in the surrounding area.

If I was rich I would buy that town and fix it up!!! There needs to become a chain store that only sells made in America goods... Even if they only had 10 items on their shelves, I'd buy

Why do you not get out of your vehicle and talk to the locals and find out what happened. Why did they give up on the town, why did the people leave. Make your videos a lot more interesting.

Joe - unfortunately the Stations of the Cross are all based on a "Jesus" that never existed. Maybe the dead who rose from the graves on one of 4 versions of the New Testament so called resurrection, not only walked to Walmart and Pizza Hut, also came to the Cross town and scared everyone away and then hung up the 12 pictures. Thanks Joe as it is now very apparent the USA's glory days have come and gone. Maybe Jesus can fix things?

It's my understanding that unemployment numbers is the number of people currently drawing unemployment numbers, but Texas may use more accurate data points. Also if the population doesn't qualify as a Village, it would be a settlement.

Don't think unincorporated means excluded from census. I live in a vibrant and affluent unincorporated area and all residents receive a census form with instructions describing a mandatory response. To my knowledge unincorporated means no city government, under the control and protection of the county, and no post office.

This is the first video I watched on this channel and you have a new subscriber. I came across it just by happenstance while scrolling through some random stuff. Next I am going to watch the video on my birth town of Flint Michigan which I fled in the 1980s. I also noted a thumbnail which showed undiscovered Beach communities in Texas which appears to be my current hometown of Galveston Texas and it looks like a view on 21st Street... Let's see if it is Galveston I'll watch tomorrow to find out.

It's disheartening to witness the decay and neglect in every town visited. Regrettably, the indifference of US citizens is evident; there's ample space to destroy without much concern.
