In terms of maps, i would recommend the guy behind rp_NYCity, rp_UnionCity and rp_Southside
They make some seriously nice-looking maps that feel like they were pulled out of real life

The reason Gmod realism is so much fun is for the same reason Gmod is fun, it’s customizable. Yeah, I could just get Ready Or Not and play that, or I could make my own tactical shooter and tweak it to my liking. For example, you use the MW weapons in the video, and I often do too. But I often go into the system setting if it in Gmod and change the position of the gun on my screen. And when I don’t use MW weapons I can use CW2 or the Insurgency weapons, which completely change how it plays. And of course there’s all the different maps to choose from. On Ready Or Not I’ve got a majority of the base maps memorized and I know the layout and where people tend to be. Even with it be randomized every time, there only so many places people can be. In Gmod, I can put anyone anywhere, let them roam for awhile, and then have no idea where they are.

Tip: If you want to go for the camera lens effect, especially with the fisheye effect, you should also apply a chromatic aberration effect. It's often grossly overused in games, but this use case is exactly what it's great for. If you throw in a bunch of motion blur, bloom, lens dirt, desaturated colour grading, and a low-strength sharpening filter to give it that "realism mode" look that really isn't that amazing or realistic once you look close, but looks impressive in screenshots and previews.

I think one Source game that still looks good is Portal. Purely because the atmosphere is based off being as simple as possible with heavy uses of light. If you keep things simple then it is hard to date the graphics.

You know, there was that one map 3KliksPhilip did a video on that was extremely realistic.....de_prime, that is what it was. Looks absolutely Beautiful!

Dude you should have made a collection

The positioning of the camera, along with overhauling the player character animations, is a starter for getting that bodycam/helmetcam-feel. If the movements of the person the camera is attached to aren't smooth, then the camera won't look smooth...
