Hecate | The Ancient Origins of the Goddess of Witchcraft

Whenever I hear the name pronounced, Heck itty, I feel puzzled. When I look up correct pronunciation it's more like Eh ca tay because it's Greek. So what's the correct way?

I have a serious question I need help with. I grew up christian because of my grandmother. But now I'm exploring my own spiritual journey.

What I'm fearing is that I'm finding it hard to call on other gods names in time of need. I'm so use to calling on JC for everything but my faith isn't strong in Christianity.

For example whenever I sleep on my back I always get sleep paralysis and I have to call on JC or try to move my toes.. can someone help me or convince me to call on Hecate for help. I fear that if I call mother goddess for help she will come help release me and I will not wake up..

Transitioning to something new is so hard for me especially being a black man. I really need help and community of support

So i started working with Hekate and I'm someone who doesn't have a lot of things and I'm not able to afford those offerings to her. If im able to at some point i will without a doubt. But I told her I would work on myself and give thanks and commit myself as offerings and appreciation and thankfulness. I have had big signs of her and not by algorithm from media. But that's between me and her. In tarot connecting with her she was very big on if I wanted to work with her I had to consistently be willing to learn and learn from my mistakes and grow and work on things and committment to it. I haven't been happy with who I am, my decisions, and have terrible trauma that effects my daily life because of past experiences which has led me to make not so great decisions as well from self sabotage and to own to my stuff without being defensive and learn from it. she let me know it won't be easy. Her energy I feel it in my chest and it kind of feels like fear but not. Not as in terrified but the feeling of when something has happened kind of feeling. Sometimes pretty intense. And I'm happy to start working with her. I am pretty excited for the transformation and one lucky person for her to choose me. She wanted me to stop putting off the healing and the work, so i agreed to work with her and give my all. I be sure to ask permission to mention things even about her as well.
I used to work with Loki and Freyya and did my best to give them drinks or food and share it with them (they were okay with it) and not as in sharing the same offering to both but with me and them because I didn't have much. Crazy part is I had a little bit more then than I do now.

I wonder, just how credible is the idea that the archetypal triad found in European pantheons actually has some common ancestor? While Graves may not provide the most academically rigorous rendition, are there perhaps other, more credible sources that support the assertion? Perhaps in a manner similar to how archaeologists have been able to "reconstruct" a handful of Proto-Indo-European deities based on similarities between pantheons that are geographically separated?

Is there any connection between Hekate and either Heka or Heqat of Egypt?

He Kate was never Goddess of witches. She was at the crossroads between the upper, middle, and lower realms. The concept of her being over witches and witchcraft is a modern neo pagan/neowicca belief. The three heads are past, present, and future . Not maiden mother crone

As an ex Christian who converted to witchcraft, i am now a devotee to Hekate,
It's marvellous how all cultures are choosing to embrace Hekate as their goddess and queen in the 21st century.
The old gods are returning, not that they ever really left.

You know what pisses me off about people who practice modern day Paganism? Is that they care too much about image. These images come from the christians who used slurs like” Witch “ or “ witchcraft “ to demonize woman of religious practice. Then for its name sake, burn and killied thousands of innocent woman. The image of modern Paganism is also the image desired by the christians to make you look evil to their design and the rest of the world. Make up, with black lipstick and clothing, dressed in robes from a goth carnival is what Christians framed you as to ruin you. … and what are you guys doin? You dress in the manner of which your ancestors where wrongfully accused of and died for it.

Calling Hecate the “ Goddess of Witchcraft “ is a faults hood and almost insulting. Refrain from using the word “ Witchcraft “ as these people where not witches. She is a goddess of Magic among other things. How that magic is used is another story and that is what the Christians failed to understand.

So please stop with the make up and everyday is halloween costumes. Those where stereotypes thrown on Pagans to mock and demonize you. Pagans where once everyday people of occupation and life.
