I love this song so much. It's so nice having reminder of how absolutely fucking absurd life is.

I always loved the fact that this song was written because everyone on set was exhausted and uncomfortable filming a difficult scene. Someone just randomly started singing this and they all liked it so much that they put it in the movie.

This is the most beautiful and morbid pieces of juxtaposition I have ever seen in a film.

These people are going to die a slow and horrible death, and it's even worse for Brian, since he was mistaken for someone else and his crucifixion has been misinterpreted by everyone he cared about, including his own mother.

And yet, when there's no hope, they sing this song, so morbid in lyrics but uplifting in the music itself, as they slowly wilt away to the crucifixion.

I can still recall seeing this film at the theater and being mildly disappointed with the ending.
