It has been a very interesting talk, as usual. Just a question about the beginning: I knew that Minnesang means 'canto in lode della Donna', for Minne is like Monna in Italian. Which is the origin of the derivation of 'Minne' from Love? Or did I understand uncorrectly? Best regards.

Wonderful discussion! One correction: Minne=memory. Minnesangere collected and reinterpreted songs they found (like "troubadors") and played them from memory in an oral tradition passed down from generation from generation. Byron is not a great example of a minnesanger because he was literary (text-based). A better example of a minnesanger might be Cat Stevens or any of the 70s singer/songwriters.
