ben played the game and wanted to help. he became useful but didnt actually play the game making him irrelevant and he eventually just became an NPC because he focused on their task and not his own.

This is actually scary

Bit of a dark thought... if this is a SAO style VRMMO, what if that's what happens if someone dies while logged into the game?

Interacting with other players for gear and enchants has always been one of my favorite things to do in MMOs. I roleplay it pretty hard :P

Players sorting out there own economy seems like an awesome feature. If this already exists in a game, I don't know, but it actually seems great.

Master Blacksmith in UO was literally like this. Stand around the forge as randoms ask you to fix their gear or make them stuff.

See this is what happens when you ignore the rule. When someone skips your conversation, kill their whole clan, trash all of their equipment (don't sell it, there's a chance they might find it), delete your own character so that they can never get revenge, start playing a game from an entirely different genre, and if anyone askes, you've never played that game before but it sounds fun.

Imagine if you were so helpful in game the devs recognized you and made an npc based off you that provided the same kind of services.

I remember playing world of warcraft and doing a quest where you become an npc, handing out q uests.

This is how I felt hitting legendary blacksmith back in Ultima Online decades and decades ago 😂

I’m just imagining him being at his computer and being transfixed on the screen then when he sees the quest marker he turns around irl and realizes he’s in the game

reminds me of players from elden ring who act like hostile NPCs, makes you wonder how invested someone is

Reminds me of the time when a new cap level + new maps got introduced on a game i played and one of the merchants sold new items that could be used to upgrade the new gear. tons of low level people tried to make money with the upgrading so i spent hours just stuffing my inventory with the new items and bringing them to the low level players. Made a good bit of money with that

I dont like how 50 gold is enough for epic gloves, but also the same price as a health potion.....

I like games where players are allowed to pretty much become npcs if they want to, kinda like eve online.
