Using mines on your own land is problematic sure no question, but it's a completely different matter to invade someone and use mines in their territory. I am abhorred by idea we used plastic mines in Vietnam but I honestly don't doubt it considering Agent Orange, etc... That's a vile act and I think we should be held accountable even if it is decades later. As for Russia? I think anything less then overwhelming force and violence in response to this and their other atrocities is the only reasonable response.

I'm tired of not sinking every Russian boat on site, not downing anything they put in the sky, and not destroying any military gear within 10 miles of the boarder. Russia has struck NATO territory a few times and recently they even blew up a pipeline connecting Finland and Estonia when we activate Article 5?

There’s nothing murky about the mines, US gave them to Ukraine and obviously will use them

superpowers not signing global ban treaties is a normal thing. Majority of the countries don't mind signing it since they see that realistically, they won't ever need it in their forseeable future. The superpowers are different. Its always a staring contest with the other and signing treaties light heartedly will lock one or the other into a unintentional advantage. So while they may just still follow the treaty like how the US operates most cases, by not signing it at least on paper, they can claim that they did not sign it and thus, are not apart of it.

Probably the worst part for a Russians tanks crew is the gunner and commander have their bottoms to the ammo and the driver has his back directly to it

Any country that can hire Von Braun and honour him is evil. He directly caused the deaths of thousands of people in Amsterdam and London. What is even worse is that as I am English WE DID TOO. I just hope that in his heart he hoped for forgiveness.

I don’t care about future of Russia or ukrine. They ain’t our ally and never will be. They are similar ideology nations. Just Ukraine is a lil civilized version of Russia. But still not Europe. So you took our budget and give away to ukrine for what? They need their land great we sell weapons come buy you can’t pay with money it’s fine pay with resources with goods or land something. Why shoudk our adults pay taxes for our own military needs and so on and then what ever they payed goes and gets used for another country for their own needs? I’m 13 I’m from Manhattan I don’t care will there will be Russia or ukrine or there will be huge hole there I don’t care actually. But what I care is that education here is very expansive why? Health care same. Why? We have homeless people I don’t know why. If we have crazy amount of budget for other nations then we have budget for our own needs. Nation comes first then alliances then rest of the world. Btw about alliances Turkey Hungary Japan and Israel ain’t our alliance they are our enemies who came too close to us. Our real alliances are Europe, Australia Canada real ones who are on our sides always and we share same interest.

Dropping mines on a battlefield is already bad and a sign of desperation. Dropping mines in Urban area ensures civilians casualties.

If I was a betting man I would guess Russia launched the drone but because it hasn't been taken care of like the rest of their equipment the guidance system probably went wonky and it probably just strolled off on its own . The parachutes that didn't hold , The fact that it's completely in the wrong place , The fact it had a bomb that didn't go off . All this screams old unmaintained equipment . If the parachutes were found deployed then they attempted to drop the drone as intended or they were reworked to jettison the parachutes in hopes the impact would detonate the bomb . Like a redneck V2 rocket . All this stinks of Russia to me but that's just my personal opinion .

should've explained how to demine them, they r sensitive to touch and made out of plastic, there r no good way to remove them rather than extra care

Any country that is illegally invaded by another country has every right to use anti-personnel mines to protect their own land. Those mines should be detectable, and cleaned up after those people ensure their sovereignty over their own land.

None of these arguments are against the effectivenessinvasion

Sign an agreement to not use it... sure..

Sign an agreement to clean it up if you do use it on your own soil is best.

Put all the blame on russia like you do i iraq and Afghanistan. We already know that tactic. The butterfly mines may be use by Ukraine to get attention from the world to join war against russia.. we don't know..but i hope the war will over..i really hate to watch the news people die on both side. 😢

As a combat engineer, I must clarify. There is no such thing as a plastic mind that cannot be detected by metal detector. There is such a thing as low metallic mints. However the blasting cap or detonator is still metallic in nature. He gives off enough of a signature that you can still find it with a metal detection halo. Granted under such circumstances I would still prefer to use GPR or ground-penetrating radar. However, metal detection alone will do.

If there are serial numbers on the us made chips in Russian weapons, they should be able to find exactly how russia acquired them. If they used shadow companies that appeared to not be Russian. OR if the companies illegally sold directly to Russia. Same with the chips and other components sold to build their weapon systems. It will be hard for russia to make any kind of smart weapons now. I read that they were tearing apart microwaves, dishwashers and smart tvs to get chips and other parts to use in missles
