Brexit did not happen immediately after the Brexit referendum in 2016. There were exhausting negotiations between the UK and the EU first about the exit of the UK and then about the future relationship between the EU and the UK.
After the official Brexit on January 31st in 2020, where the UK officially left the EU and with it the Parliament, there was a transitional period until December 31st in 2020 to implement the new relationship.
There are some longer transitional periods for some areas, but this was the main one.
People are talking a lot about the level of preparation for Brexit on different sides or the lack of.

The NHS needs to be scrapped to save lives. It's time Government follow in the footsteps of many mainland European countries and make our HealthCare an hybrid insurance-based system with proper safety nets. What modern day Trotskyists is going to wave the banner "Save the NHS" when it’s so terribly bad at saving us.

The issue is that Britain did not fully implement Brexit. The ECHR should have immediately have been kicked out and we should have deported all illegals. The EU are now also trending to ignore the ECHR because they realise it’s ludicrous restrictions. The other major issue GB has is stupid woke culture the is confusing the “Political idiots

Brexit has paid off. The EU has been liberated from an untrustworthy, rude, selfish, greedy, obnoxious, obstructive, mendacious, unreliable, haughty, arrogant "member" that was never worthy of being a member. It's with great joy that I now watch the damage the haughty English have inflicted upon themselves.

The so-called "rollover" trade deals with which the UK currently conducts a huge portion of its non-EU trade globally are extremely time limited - being what they are, a cut-and-paste version of deals struck between the other party and the EU, they contain quite a lot of tariff-free provisions based on quantities, volumes and composition of exports which no longer reflect the actual trade now being conducted by the UK with these other countries.

Strictly speaking they are a technical breach of WTO rules, in which any such deal must follow a conformity assessment of each others' actual production environment by both parties, and - as Canada has already done - it is only a matter of time before the bulk of these other parties will wish to negotiate a new, more relevant and accurate deal that brings both parties back within WTO specifications for valid international trade.

And there's the rub. At this moment - as Canada has also pointed out and cited as a reason for collapsing the negotiations that were taking place to achieve this goal - the UK's present post-Brexit standards, regulatory and legal infrastructure, missing as it is many components of this infrastructure which disappeared when it left the EU and which have never been replaced, means that it is impossible as yet for any serious trading partner to conduct a meaningful conformity assessment at all (beyond assessing that they are dealing with a basket-case, and certainly criminal, third country). No conformity assessment - as Canada pointed out - means no possibility to conclude anything but the skimpiest of trade deals, and certainly with no possibility of allowing tariff removals for imports from the country which has effectively rendered itself legally unaccountable under international law as determined by WTO rules.

Those who think things can't get any worse on the trade front have a nasty surprise in store for them as each of these countries tire of extending this particular "grace period" to a criminal entity and, in an effort to protect their own economies and markets, insist that their present rollover arrangements revert to WTO standard trade.

You are about to find out just what "trade according to WTO rules" means when it applies without the benefit of negotiated comprehensive trade treaties which lift quota restrictions, embargoes and tariffs on your exports. And, as any emergent economy struggling to establish its own domestic infrastructure will testify, it's not a good place to be.

And the saddest thing? There is not the slightest indication from politicians, media or public discourse in the UK that a single individual in this third country is even aware of this crucial aspect to what being a third country actually means.

Arrogance? Ignorance? If it's British it's probably both. But it's certainly suicidally stupid.

Sooooo.... looks like the EU being the architect and cause of all Britain's problems / faults / flaws / issues was false - it was actually Britain's own stupidity / ignorance / racism / xenophobia / greed / hate / misguided belief system that caused it all... I suppose it could be worse because at least Britain kept its dignity and retained the moral high-ground when engaging with other countries during and after Brexit, and no-one saw the UK fall flat on its face...🤣

I would say the only true benefit of brexit is for some countries in the EU to finally see what a snake the UK politicians, repeating, politicians, not people, really are. From the press releases of all the countries the british PM visited, we can see a healthy dose of pragmatism and a rather plain and dismissive reaction, and all returning to the repeated ad nauseam simple truth "that if the UK wants to negotiate, it negotiates with the EU". The fact the british PM even tried this says a lot about either his character and of his party, or of his ignorance. Brexit is a long term consequence of a disease inside the UKs society and political classes, and from the visible symptoms, the disease seems to be rampant and without any signs of healing any time soon.
