We had several of the v6 ford F150s as patrol vehicles and they were always in the shop for some issue with the turbos. All of them had more than one cracked housings. And they all had several other issues.

The guy with the ecoboost in the videos took meticulous care of it and you know he babied it.

Show us one that was in a rental or commercial fleet.

You can get a Ford Ecoboost and take good care of it and have issues and get a Toyota Tundra and just take average care of it and it will give you 200,000 miles with issues.

That issue with throttle bodies is just unacceptable for any modern vehicle. Hell even a Chevy doesn’t do that. Heck even a Chrysler product doesn’t do that 😂

Who does 250k miles of oil changes themselves? Me, that guy and many others. Though not everyone has the time or space to do it. Its very simple. I also 100% completely maintain fix, modify every vehicle i ever owned. Again not hard, you hust need to have will power. Im not a engineer or mechanic. No one will take car of your vehicle like you would.

My 5.4 3v was just laid to rest. 287k miles. Bought it with 204k ex commercial truck. I had great luck with it. Had, efan conversion, long tube headers, cat back, cai, and 5 star tune from 231k to the end. The 20' 5.0 that replaced it just now will get tune soon. Has cat back and cold air for show and sound. Hopefully the 10spd will behave and i wont need to change motor due to oil consumption, lol. Sounds amazing, neck and neck with brother in laws 18 3.5 eco. Mileage with having fun better. Race truck next to 05 i had. Long live the V8 ❤ small displacement motors only work to please the EPA gods in heavy work vehicles.

The F-150 has too many years of engineering history built into the V-8 engine power source. Everything else is to comparison's forged around the V-8's utility augmentations. It's no wonder the 8' cargo bed went out the vent window behind the full body side molding. No?

What the heck are you needing so many throttle bodies for. I have 152,000 on my 2011 3.5 Eco-boost. Never had a throttle body issue. Still on my second set of Michelin tires. Coils, plugs at 105000 miles. Oil changed every 5,000 miles. Transmission fluid, power steering fluid and antifreeze changed at 75,000 and 150,000. Still sounds and runs like new. No rust yet. Driven mostly March to October pulling my camper.

2002 Avalanche. Recall for Rusted ABS sensors. Had to do it again and pay - recall was only good for one event - got new bearings at the same time. That was the second set of front bearings so bearing and ABS rust were the only real issues.- Truck ran to 199,750 miles then the fule pump died - Mechanic did not want to fix it because of all the rust on the underside of the truck (just before covid). Only other major repair was the wiring harness - totally eaten by a Squirrel. $4,000 repair - and insurance paid because it was an act of God.

I am coming from a 5.6 liter V8 in a Nissan Titan to a 3.5 Ecoboost V-6. I thought I'd miss the V8, but the power delivery in the Ecoboost isn't peaky as I was expecting, it's pretty nice and linear.

Ответить
@7daysoglegend
@7daysoglegend - 25.06.2023 09:03

I tell people all the time:

Ecoboost has a high towing capacity but great fuel economy so it is capable of getting decent fuel economy but can still tow a considerable amount of weight. I wouldn't tow much daily because it is a v6.

The 5.0 V8 is the one that is known to last for ages and won't go through the stress and fuel economy loss when towing heavier things.

At the end of the day the Ecoboost and 5.0 are both great engines.

Anytime you add turbos to a (gasoline)engine you willingly accept that you'll get less use from the engine , overall.

I have a 2011 Ecoboost… and my truck just really really really likes to foul out plugs and coil packs… it’s honestly been really annoying because I can’t trust it for cross country…basically any 1,000 miles plus x country trip I love taken I’ve a plug and/or coil pack go out causing me to get misfires and eventually limo mode (when I’m trying to limp it to a parts store for a coil).
The truck has sat a bit to much over the last year or two as I had a company truck for a daily. Now it burns a little oil on cold start, has a code for a cold start misfire… it’s also past due for some general maintenance that I just haven’t had the time to get to yet (brakes and exploring the burning oil and misfires more). AC compressor locked up (or at least just the clutch), not sure if it’s just the clutch but I think it is the compressor, I lost the belt for the AC but haven’t fixed that yet either lol. I got no CEL on the dash even though the codes tell me about the cold start misfire but that’s the only “major” thing that shows in the codes… also the battery light is on and always comes on, just put a new battery in it and still get the code for “voltage regulator”. Put a volt meter on the battery with the truck running and I get 13.5 volts, so the alternator is still charging but might be a little weak… not sure about voltage code being thrown, but I’m just kinda keeping an eye on the alternator and waiting for it to go out so I can throw in a new alternator and address the AC compressor issue at the same time while I’m in there with everything opened up.
I think mine might be a bit of a lemon with the fouling of plugs and coil packs… I literally need plugs and coils about every 30k miles… coils are expensive to do all six (to me anyways) every 20-30k so ever since doing all six the first time I’ve just found the bad coil/s and replaced just the ones that were bad. I’ve tried fixing the root of the problem with fouling plugs/coils but never fully fixed it. The best I can come up with is on longer trips oil vapor builds up in the intercooler, and when I get on the go pedal under load or climbing a hill that built up vapor just gets sucked into the intake and fouls out my plugs/coils. The truck is bone stock (meaning I haven’t installed a catch can which could help with my issue). Only thing I’ve done is drill the “wheel hole” in the bottom of the intercooler. It’s a a 1/16 hole that lets the oil vapor drain out the bottom of the intercooler.
